Don't want to be off-topic, but I have been looking with no luck for a message board with advice regarding Kennedy Space Center. We'd like to go the day before the cruise, as we are arriving a couple nights prior. Hoping maybe someone can steer me in the right direction.
Thank you!:scratchin

Ask here, as there are a lot of the DIS'ers that have been! Multiple times too...

Thanks, I think I will... Here's the plan:

We are flying into Orlando on Thursday before the cruise- late afternoon or early evening. I was thinking of getting a priceline room at MCO for the night, then picking up a car rental Friday morning and going directly to the Space Center. I see the tickets can be purchased ahead of time, and are cheaper to buy this way than lumped in a package with the hotel room. My 11 year old daughter is very interested in everything space (I find her awake stargazing at 2am on school nights!) so I was thinking the lunch with an astronaut passes might be really cool. Has anyone done this option?
Also, as we are going to be there only one day, should I get the regular standard passes, or fork over a bit more for the deluxe ones? I just wonder if we'll have enough time to see so much in one day. or if we'll be spaced out and looking to leave even if we miss some exhibits. Which are the ones you'd think would be most interesting to girls 11 and 13?
I guess then we'll dump the rental on Sat. and use the courtsey ride from the car rental office to go to the port.
Does this sound like a reasonable plan? Any and all suggestions are appreciated!

We are doing the 4 day in March and would like to do the same thing ? Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

My parents are also interested in the same type of plan.

I would love some information from anyone who has been to the Space Center and has some hints.

We did that one year - only had stayed at BWV prior to a cruise, got up Friday morning and went to KSC and really enjoyed it - and this is a lady that isn't real scientific (just Disneyific). My DH and 3 DS's liked it as well. We stayed at the Radisson and took their shuttle to the port on Saturday morning. We are doing a Wonder cruise in December and we may do that before or after again.

My only suggestion would be is to drop everyone but the driver off at the port and then just one person (and no luggage) can take the shuttle back to the port and catch up with the rest of your group at the terminal.

Hello! We took our family to the Kennedy Space Center in March of 2001. We did not buy tickets in advance, and the lines were very, very long (a Friday). One reason was that their computer was down and they were hand-writing credit card receipts. Luckily, we bypassed it when a traveler's check line opened. We almost missed the tour we wanted.

We did the deluxe tour, and were very glad we did! All the extras were well worth it. If you, however, want more time at exhibits rather than seeing facilities, the standard would be AOK.

Dh is a Boeing engineer, so this was a must see for him. I, a girlie-girl, was enthralled by this tour, it was one of my best memories of our first trip to Orlando. Ds then age 10 and dd age 6 loved it equally as well. They brought back gifts to their classrooms, and this was a hit.

Have a wonderful trip!!!

Thanks everyone. As far as the rental, I think we are going to frop the car at the agency in Cpae Canaveral, and use their complimentary shuttle to the port to avoid having a rental parked there for a week. I will double check on this, but I have read on Dave's site this is an option.

And I think after reading the posts, the extra few dollars for the deluxe ticket will be worth it. I was leaning toward the standard ticket, as there seems to be plenty to do with that pass, but it sound like this will not be as boring for me as expected and we may want to other options.

Thanks again everyone:sunny:
