What do they do at the Merry Mixer and where does it happen?

Nice little members only party at the International Gateway back entrance to World Showcase. They block the old bus stop area off with trees and have a party inside. Guests include Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Santa Goofy, Chip and Dale and Santa's Reindeer along other Special Guests. They have a DJ and dancing, refreshments and member giveaways (giveaway cool stuff not members).

We are sooo there! If it's on Fridays we'll be able to make it to the Dec. 26th night. Sounds like fun!

I'm also hoping to attend our first mixer but we are also dining at Ohanas before we head off to MVMCP that night. Might be too much for DS. We'll be playing it by ear!

Well, we'll be there on the 12th I guess. I had a nice little plan going for Thursday: Epcot day with dinner at Captain's Grille at 5:45pm so we could mosey over and check out the resorts after the MMM. Ah well, guess I'll have to readjust things a bit - won't flow as nicely but we don't want to miss members being given away, or cool stuff either, lol!

I am so happy I found this post. I thought that it was starting the following we and that we wouldn't be able to go. But we already planned for Friday Dec 5 at EPCOT, so it looks like we can go. I'm pumped since we have never been!!!!

Spoke to Member Services today and they said that the confirmation of Fridays from 3:00 - 5:00 all December came in today and the site will be updated soon.

The Merry Member Mixer takes place between the Beach Club and the International Gateway entrance to Epcot. It is not inside the park.

No ticket is necessary unless you want to get to the mixer by going through Epcot.

The Merry Mixer is just before the back entrance into Epcot. If you walk over to Epcot from BCV or BWV you will see the tents set-up on the left just prior to the back entrance Epcot ticket gates.

I was bummed when I found out about the change of days so I wrote an email to MS.

I got a response from member satisfaction that "based on the nature" of my note that it would be passed up.

Someone actually called me about it. She was very nice and apologetic about the change and said that the dates come down from Marketing (Don't get me started on that...).

I explained about planning on Thursday based on past Mixers and the whole Sun-Thurs thing and she said she would pass that upstairs.

I told her that I was still disappointed but that I understood and appreciated her time.

It may not hurt for others to express their disappointment as well.

I mean, this is for members, not future prospects and it is not paid for out of Marketing's budget, but our dues.

That's a good point that you and others made about the Sun-Thurs stays. You think they could have scheduled them all for Thursdays except for Christmas and just moved that one, or not had one on Christmas. Of course, then others would complain about that too if it didn't work for them! There's probably no "perfect" day to pick. I'm lucky that we will be there for more than 7 days and we're staying at BCV, so it shouldn't be a big deal to get over there whenever it is, but Thursday worked in my plan better!

I called Member Services. I informed the CM I made my plans based on previous Merry Mixers. I reminded her we have to make our reservations months in advance and I wanted to know why it was changed this year. She said she didn't know and was sorry. I think it stinks they decided the date a little more than a month out. No offer to allow me to make a complain .... even though I pushed it.

Can someone help a rookie in the best way to get to the mixer from SSR? Our plans did not include visiting EPCOT that day, but we do have time to check our our first mixer. Should I drive and park? Bus?

The easiest way would be to take a bus to one of the parks and then switch to a bus for the Beach Club. Once at the Beach Club, walk through the resort, out the back door and forward to the main walkway. Take a left and continue over (or under...there are two paths) the bridge. This will take you right to the International Gateway.

If the Studios bus is the first that comes along, take that and then hop on the boat at the dock there. It will take you right to the International Gateway (after stopping at the Y/BCV and BWV).
