I can't find the World Showplace on any maps. Is it on the walkway from BWV to Epcot? And admission to Epcot is NOT required, correct?

Can anyone give me an idea of what this event is like? We have never been and if the date is 12/6 for us that will mean cancelling our tea at the GF. Just wondering if it is worth it. Is there a sales pitch or is it really a mixer for members? Thanks for the input!

More mixer than sales pitch. Still I wouldn't cancel any other plans to attend. You don't need to be there the entire time. If you are done with the tea by 4pm, you could easily make your way over to Epcot and at least pick up a free gift at the mixer. Probably take about 30 minutes to get there via the monorail.

I can't find the World Showplace on any maps. Is it on the walkway from BWV to Epcot? And admission to Epcot is NOT required, correct?

It is the building nestled between Canada and the UK within Epcot. Park admission IS required.

The World Showplace is located inside Epcot between the Canada and UK Pavilions. Theme Park admission will be required as you have to enter the park.

We will be at AK on that Thurs of our trip in Dec. I think we will leave early and hop over to Epcot to go. I want an ornament/pin. Touring Plans says Epcot is a "Park to Avoid" that day but we will survive. Just want to experience it once i guess.

The mixers are on Tuesdays not Thursdays.

It seems to be Tuesdays. Are you going to still be there on the 13th? I have a CRT dinner with friends at 6:45, and will probably go on the early side. From BCV, I could get a ride to MK by bus. Can you go?

Go to the tea.

It's put on by DVD Marketing. A bunch of DVC owners will line up, enter a big tent, stand in lines to get a drink, then stand in line to get a cookie. There will be a line to meet a Disney character. Music will be playing and kids will dance on a dance floor. There are Guides there to sell contracts. Probably a drawing for something and maybe a Christmas ornament as you leave the tent.

It's only 2 hours long, nice to do one time unless you have nothing else to do.

I second this - go to your tea.....sorry but I found the Mixer we went to back in 2008 a waste of a few hours.

... If they're Tuesdays, then DVC has once again made the decision whether to attend or not for me. Last time we went (2009) it was Thursday. Was last year also Tuesdays?

The time and place is correct. Dates are 11/29, 12/6, 12/13 and 12/20. Found out about this a few days ago and wasn't supposed to say anything until Wednesday but I guess the cat is out of the bag.

Thanks Tim! I'm at work (read: not supposed to be here LOL) and was quickly scanning looking for a "list" and didn't see one.

Looks like unless they add the Tuesday following Christmas we won't be going (will be on ME at 5pm on the 20th, hehe.) I think whether they add a fifth date or not will depend on remaining stock, location availability and staffing. For now, writing it off. We will be happy to be arriving anyway!

For those who may not know, the ornament is made to look like the Merry mixer pin - larger, less detail and in a pewter like metal. Not sure if it's pewter though. So this year: a rocking horse.

Admission to Epcot is required. Here's the World Showplace, the entrance is between Canada and the UK pavilions (see the red arrow).

As you can see it's a large building.
