Meredith & Matt's PJ-June 19th, 2011 Germany/LSS - Completed TR and Blog Feature!

Uh, for some reason the site gets changed to a bunch of stars and will not come up on the board. I hope I didn't break any rules.

I like the idea of drinking around the world that night! It sounds really fun. And you could always wear a simple white dress and the mickey bride ears so you still feel like "the bride"!

I found a site that has prices for everything from flowers to reception halls at Disney...
http://www.********************/ftw/wdw/index.html

It helped me budget better because I know about how much everything is going to cost (since the prices change every year!).

Good Luck!

Could you PM the link?

I plan on wearing a cute dress and my jewelry that night and leaving my hair in. Hopefully I won't be turned away with with that.

I think that it is really smart of you to put together that list of what is and is not important to you. That will really help you to plan your day and keep your budget in check. I think that you have some really great ideas! I am also unable to have a dessert party (due to budget reasons) so we have played around with a few ideas, and I am okay with not having one. Your EPCOT drinking around the world idea sounds great! You could always wear a pair of bridal ears so you still stand out!

Congrats from one Philly girl to another! I can't want until it's time for me to start planning! :cool1:

Yeah for Philadelphia!

I love the dress! It looks GREAT on you! Excited to follow along with all your planning!

I'm really excited for the drinking around the world. :yay: I'm hoping we won't be too exhausted by then because I think I'm going to want my wedding day to last forever.

I'm going to have to go into my PS with a strict budget in mind and see what I can get with that. If we end doing the cocktail hour I'd really like to take the fruit and stuff from the buffet for the cocktail hour.

I completely forgot to post my ring with my engagement story post. For some reason these pics come up small on when I post from this computer. I'll post more later,

I've worked out our room block the best that I could. We decided on 3 different resorts, All- Star Movies, Caribbean Beach and Beach Club. I found out later it would probably be better to only have 2 resorts with the transportation options for the wedding, but I'm not sure if anyone will even stay at Caribbean. I'm still going to do my best to get the transportation cost as low as possible.

I booked our rooms and we'll be staying at 3 different places. I know it seems a bit much, but I've been through all different combinations and this worked out the best. We'll be checking into All-Star Movies the Friday before the wedding with me, DF and MOH. Then DF will stay at Movies for Saturday, the night before the wedding. MOH and I will move to Beach Club on Saturday and DF will join me Sunday, night of the wedding. Then Monday morning we'll move to the Beach Club Villas for our honeymoon. :yay: We booked a studio at the villas since it will only be two of us and we don't need that much extra space. I'm glad to have the room part out of the way so we can start planning the exciting stuff. :goodvibes

The STD's were sent out by Disney and some arrived to our guests today!! I think they look great. I know that you really can't personalize the STD's Disney does but I think they are really pretty and the less I have to do the less stressed I am. I'm not really a creative person and haven't really come up with a perfect vision for my wedding. I love how the envelopes and folders are iridescent. I'm so excited for my family to start going to the website and exploring around.

I've started writing a newsletter and my plan is once people start getting back to me about wanting to go, I'll send a newsletter to them. The newsletter is a more detailed breakdown of the events, hotels and Disney itself. It's pretty much written and now a friend of my sister's is making it look good. I can't wait to see the final product.

popcorn:: hi and welcome to the boards! I was exactly like you and browsed for months prior to getting to engaged! I was beyond ecstatic when I could finally post on here ha

Yay for another EPCOT bride! We are having a lunch reception and I cant tell you how much it helped our budget. And the great thing about EPCOT is you really don't have to dress it up, its beautiful all on its on

Your dress is gorgeous! Congrats again, can't wait to read more!

We've scheduled our Planning Session on February 11th for the afternoon session! It will only be 4 months out from our wedding so I'm hoping that won't be too late. We couldn't schedule it any earlier because it would have been the middle of winter sports season. DF didn't want to take time off so I'm a little stressed. He's also desperate to go to the Harry Potter park so I think we're going to squeeze that into this trip so we don't have to leave Disney during our HM! I'm planning on having fun in the parks and relaxing by the pool for the HM.

I'd really like to walk through the Germany Pavilion again and see the LSS to get a better picture of how things will be set up. Do I need to request a site visit seperate from my PS?

I wanted to invitations to got out pretty early. A friend of mine is doing the invitations so I think we'll have everything set up to print and see if there are any last minute changes made during the PS. Then when we get back we can hopefully have everything printed and ready to be sent by the end of February. How early did everyone send their invites? I'm hoping that most people won't wait until the invite to book, but I know they will. I would really like to get a final count of everyone 2 months out from the wedding.

I feel like it will be a marathon after getting back from the PS because I really can't finalize anything until then.

You do need to request a site visit separately, or at least mention it to your planner. I was told for my planning session that LSS might possibly be booked so while I will still get to do my tasting at Epcot, I may not get to see LSS.

My wedding is February 12th at LSS, maybe you can sneak in :) My PS is in September, which is 5 months before the date and I am slightly stressed about it but have been reassured that everything will be fine.

I am sending out my invites around Halloween. I know that that is considered early, but that way I can have a final guest count right around Christmas. I think 4 months ahead is completely fine when it comes to a destination wedding.

YAY for Philly Brides!! :cheer2: My wedding is about 2 weeks before yours! we just sent our contract in yesterday so we're not quite as far along as you are yet. I'll definitely be subscribing and following along!:thumbsup2

I've had some boring posts so I figured I should post some pics to liven it up a bit. I didn't put any engagement ring pics in my first post and put some really small ones in a previous post. So here are some good size ones. It's a sapphire. All of our college friends say it's a Penn State ring which I think is great. My favorite color is blue anyway.

Please ignore the wrinkles in my hand.

My fingers seem to go on forever in this pic...I don't know why

I've been searching around for flats for my shoes. The DF and I are the same height so I need flats for the wedding and I'll will be a lot more comfortable in flats. I've found a few options, but haven't really committed. I was out and found these flats and love them. My favorite color is blue and I had planned on wearing blue jewelry. The only problem is my left foot is a half size larger than my right, so I have to try to stretch the left. If it doesn't work the shoes will be going back and it's onto the search again. I'm posting 2 pics...one shows them really dark and the other shows them lighter. The true color is really in between the 2 shades but I just can't seem to get the right lighting for the pic.

Now for the jewelry...I've been obsessed with the earrings Drew Barrymore wears in her lash blast fusion ad. I want to wear ones similar to hers just in a blue shade. I've found a few options on Esty...but I want to make sure they're really sparkly. I'm throwing around the idea of making my own as long as I can find the perfect crystal. There is a store local to my house that sells stuff like that but I have yet to get myself there. Anyway, here's a pic of the ad with the earrings.

So we've been through the cake CD and narrowed it down to 2 or 3 cakes. We like the mad hatter, mickey's delight and the coral cake. The coral cake is in the running because I think it looks really cool and our reception in the LSS. We really don't have a theme for the rest of the wedding and I feel like my ideas are everywhere. As you know we're on a budget and we'll probably be having a 2 tier cake with supplemental sheet cake. Luckily the 3 cakes we like seem like some of the cheapest ones. Unless I'm reading the outline totally wrong.

The cake topper that I had originally been thinking of were the mickey heads. I love how this bride did her mickey heads and was thinking of doing something similar with a Germany and Ireland flag. (sorry I don't know who you are but I LOVE your cake topper) Since we're having the ceremony at the Germany pavilion I thought going with the country theme was appropriate. This would probably only work on the top of the mad hatter cake.

With the coral cake it doesn't seem like I'll need a topper at all. Do you think since I'm not having an under the sea theme I shouldn't go with the coral cake? Would it seem like I just picked the cake out of no where? I need some opinions here.

Love all your pictures! Your engagement ring is really pretty ... I love how the ring has all the pave stones -- very vintage! And sapphires are my birthstone, so I'm partial to them. :thumbsup2

I'm jealous that you can wear flats for your ceremony ... my dh is over a foot taller than me, so I *have* to go with heels for our VR. ;)

And I think the coral cake would be very nice at LSS, especially if you don't have any other kind of "theme" going on. It's really appropriate for the venue. :)

Thanks for the cake input and the compliment pixie921!! The DF really likes the coral cake and love how excited he is about the cakes. I'll pick whichever one he wants and I think the coral cake looks really cool in the pictures.

I didn't really realize you had to schedule your portrait sessions way in advance until recently. I guess I just really wasn't paying attention. I was thinking we would just schedule it during our PS if it was in the budget, but Jenn informed me that we could just cancel later if we really couldn't make it work.

Since the ceremony will be in Epcot we've decided trying to schedule a DHS session. The DF's favorite park is Epcot with DHS a VERY close second. I've looked around for other bride's portrait sessions in DHS and there are very few. The pics I've seen I really like and I think DHS is a really cool place to get pics done. I've seen that lighting can be an issue in the park, but the session will be right at the start of the summer. Which happen to be the longest days of the year!! :cool1:

Really? I didn't realise that either... Maybe I should book mine too :lmao:

I want MK and Epcot, which I think are the most common, I love looking at the DHS and AK shoots, because they are completely different view points to what you're used to seeing.

Hey BecBennett! Yea, can't remember where exactly I saw scheduling it early is a good idea. I think it may have been someone's PJ....they were talking about scheduling about 10 months out and they were having trouble picking dates since there were other's scheduled. So I emailed my planner and they said yes if we're thinking about doing a session we should submit dates soon.
