Merchandise you wish to see or want back

Do you have a Disney Store near you? They usually have a pretty decent selection of plush characters - typically a good mix of 'new' and 'old' characters. Right now there's a good number of Princess and the Frog plush toys.

No DS near me. And they do have a good selection, but it tends to be the newer movies. I have purchased plushies from there. But I'd still like WDW to have some more variety. It's basically the same characters over and over, in every store.

i also want to add a better sterling charm selection. i like to buy one on each trip, but it's the same stuff that it was years ago. nothing new and nothing unique. i have a castle from MK. i'd love to see a spaceship earth from epcot, a tree of life from AK and a sorcerer's hat from HS.

it's not all tink, princess and mickey.

Me too! I check everytime and I have yet to find a spaceship earth or tree of life. I do have a sorcerer's hat. They had that years ago. I haven't seen it since. This thread is making me . Why are they phasing resort merchandise out???? That makes absolutely no sense.

I would like to see good quality merchandise. The quality of pretty much everything at the parks is junk...clothes are totally inconsistent, fade/shrink, etc. and toys break.

We don't buy much at WDW at all anymore, but bought a few things 2 weeks ago as we needed some extra clothes due to the cold, and it's a good thing we know that Disney merchandise is not good and bought larger sizes, as the clothes shrunk, despite being washed in an HE washer, cold water, hung to dry.

I'm not holding my breath on this, as Disney makes a mint selling cheap stuff for high prices!

Tiger

Amen on the quality remarks! I have Disney merch from the 80s and 90s that has held up remarkably well. Right now I'm wearing a jersey that's probably 20 years old and it still looks good. I have coffee mugs that are 20+ years old with colors as vibrant as the day I bought them. Much of the merch today just won't hold up.

I collect magnets and was disappointed to not find some resort-specific magnets. I'd love to see more resort-specific merchandise in general.

I'd also like to see more postcards of individual attractions and resorts.

Party music on CDs would be nice to have year round at the stores.

Some of the merchandise is generic to both WDW and DL, which saves Disney $$ when ordering from the manufacturer. I'd like WDW's items to be exclusive to WDW and for each park to have more specific merchandise to go with various attractions. For instance, Animal Kingdom could sell a deck of cards with only Animal Kingdom attractions/AK themed characters on it, and Epcot would have an Epcot deck of cards, etc.

I'm really, really dreading the day that kids don't know who the 7 Dwarfs, Tod and Copper, Robin Hood, Kaa, Clara and Horace, Gideon, etc., are. I need merchandise with these characters on them! I have started collecting pins and classic characters is one of the themes I love the most. Also, like a PP said, there is hardly any Peter Pan merchandise! He's my favorite and the only reason I have a pin of him is because I traded with a guy at DTD who had one of the most impressive collections I've seen, but even he hardly had any Peter pins. I feel like a lot of the classic aspect of Disney is becoming lost.

I'd like to see more women's blouses/tops based on attractions, classic characters, etc., with whimsical designs, really artistic images, appliques, ruffles, buttons, eyelet, etc. Plus, they need to be a little less form-fitting, especially if you want to wear it while you're still on vacation, and you know what a week's worth of those marshmallow stick things and pastries will do to you! ;)

I got a question after said merchandise is discontinued what does disney do with the left over merchandise? I brought the alice in wonderland tea set from the tea caddy last year and it's already discontinued! I'm missing a piece that I wish I brought when I had the chance.

The other thing I miss the most are "grown up" pens. They used to have the best silver professional type pens with subtle Mickey head designs and things on them. I've lost or broken all of mine and I've been looking for replacements at WDW for the past few years, but no luck. I have a friend who has me look for one for her on every trip too. I loved to use those at work. I still buy the cheaper character ones that come several in a package, but I usually just use them at home.

I just bought a very nice Mickey pen in WOD in June. It's silver w/ Mickey heads on the cushion finger part. I try to get one every few years once I've worn out my last. It was in the section with keychains/magnet/car decals on the wall by scrapbooking supplies.

I want my taffy back!!! My mom & I would both buy a big bag of the taffy at the Confectionary in MK where you could pick out the flavors you want & stuff a bag. That stuff was awesome & you could just get the flavors you like. This year, all you can get is the prepackaged stuff & that didn't have my Mickey & Donald taffy (cherry & lemon)! Anyone know why they got rid of that?

And, yes, some interesting women's shirts that are not made for little girls. I often end up with a men's shirt cause I just don't like the selection for women. I like a lot of the junior's shirts (like one with Mickey & Minnie on Main Street & the sparkly castle ones), but I'm not shaped like a teenager anymore and they don't sell those cute ones in regular sizes.

ITA about the quality of merchandise. I have shirts from 10 years ago that look great... and shirts from 2 years ago that look horrible! The picture is cracking/coming off and the shirts are also so thin now!

I also would like to see more resort-themed merchandise. I got really excited when I first heard about the disneyresortcollection.com website. But, there's nothing on it I want! :rotfl: I don't want the bed! I want the cute bedspreads. I want the cute mickey coat rack that's at the WL. Those are the things I'm interested in. Not the generic stuff that's super expensive.

I really wish they would change their mugs. I loved the resort ones. I don't even like the mugs they have now... primary colors with a giant Mickey head? Maybe it would appeal to me if I was a 3 year old boy.... The mugs they sold hot chocolate in last Christmas were way cuter - they had Mickey lounging in a chair with Pluto asleep at his feet and stockings hung at the chimney.

I miss the square clear box of red hot candies you could get in Walt Disney World. Does anyone else remember these? I really wish they would package their candy in those boxes again.

I agree with previous posts.

I would want more resort specific merchandise, more quiet adult apparel (stuff without a HUGE design on it), different merchandise, and more adult friendly stuff.

what do you mean by "fits a normal person?"

I interpret that as a regular adult shirt that fits someone who grew up in the 80's or early 90's that doesn't show every chub roll or cling so tight that you leave nothing to the imagination. I never buy WDW T shirts because of the style and tight look. I am 5'4" amd 220#, a 2X....they never have a 2x that fits me, ever. My DH is a 2X and his brother a 3X we can never find those either.

My request would be more 14kt gold charms and the porceline princess figurines that are about 6 inches tall. Know the figurines are all banks or trinket boxes.

You know the Chef Mickey or Gourmet Mickey brand like the coffee, soup, pasta and macaroni & cheese they have? They used to have in a cylinder shape container Dark Chocloate and Mint Chocolate Waffle Cookies ..years ago...Bring them back ! So Good!

I had the coolest T-shirt I bought in the Magic Kingdom in 1999. It was printed on the front and back with tons of characters and MK attractions. When I wore it there in 2000 and 2002, people kept asking where I got it.

It got worn out and I would love to replace it, but I haven't seen anything like it in recent years.

T shirt qualtiy back up. I want more choices in 3xl. i can wear 2xl BUT 3xl is more comfy. I would love more baseball caps(embroidered) i want more figurines as well..NOT bobbleheads..and more character options on everything. There are more characters than the fab 5,Princess and tinkerbell.

More WDW merchandise. I don't like the shirts that are just a Mickey silhouette and look like I got it from Target.

Also agree with the lack of resort merchandise. I feel like Disney is missing a HUGE market here. I'd definitely buy it if they had it.

Same with DVC merchandise. There's barely anything!

They just need more merchandise!!!

While I can't think of anything specific, I do miss the days when each shop sold different merchandise. Now it's rather pointless to visit most of the shops since most of the items are the same in every store, with very few exceptions. The one upside to that. . . gone are the days of wagging bags around the parks because you can just go to one shop on the way out of the park and get the same selection.

-More Haunted Mansion stuff....I really want a good HM mug, but haven't seen one yet. There used to be great shirts too. I have a 2x with Mickey/Donald/Goofy and the hitchhiking ghosts, glows in the dark, with "beware of hitchiking ghosts" on the back, best fitting 2x I've worn. But now, there is nothing. The best I could do last trip was a key chain. :confused3

-more variety in larger sizes. I prefer 3X, but not much can be bought at the size or larger.

-a bigger variety of character. My DW would kill me, but I don't always want to wear Mickey! I can get good Donald and Goofy, but it's always the same characters over and over again. I lucked out a couple of years back and found a couple of good Nemo shirts (the Gulls..Mine, Mine, Mine, Mine..) Some of my favorite Disney shirts come from the Disney Store over the years....I had an awesome Uncle Scrooge (got ruined accidently), have an Incredibles logo shirt, Baloo, and I have spied a Dr. Doofenshmirtz and a Mater shirt at the DS that I might gamble on, but I'd like more obscure characters (I realize that they don't make as much $$, so why bother...)
