Merchandise Return

My understanding is that you have an indefinite amount of time to return an item purchased at a WDW store. Correct?

DW bought me a shirt from a shop at MGM. Unforuntately it wasn't the one that I was looking at. After trading three messages with Merchandise Mail Order, they've confirmed that the item I really did want has now been discontinued. But, they have yet to confirm the return policy.

Tags are still on the shirt. Receipt is packed away. Will I have any problems returning this item in May (about 6 mos after purchase?)
 
Working in retail myself I would venture to guess that you have an indenfinete amount of time to make the returns. Disney does not have any policies on thier reciepts and nothing posted at registers (Probably because they do not get many returns). I returned a shirt I bought a few days after I purchased it with no problems. If you charged it make sure to have your credit card with you though.
 
I'm pretty sure you'll have no problem returning it if you have the receipt. You might want to try to go to the place it was purchased though. Even though many of the shops sell the same mds. they don't all have the same. An inexperienced CM may have a little trouble with that as I encountered this when I returned a backpack in EPCOT that was purchased at the CR.

But, it worked out fine. I found the mail order to be a pain though. Took 2 weeks to have the security sensor removed from a jacket I purchased. Didn't realize it was still on there until I got it home. Took a lot of follow up which seemed unecessary, was a bit disappointed with that.

Thanks, all, for the feedback.

Now that I think about it, my experiences with MMO haven't exactly been glowing:

1. Saw toddler shirt at airport store just before leaving MCO. They had 2T and 4T but no 3T. Called MMO and they couldn't help. A month later a friend-of-a-friend went to WDW and had no problems finding the item/size.

2. Emailed MMO in Dec '03 looking for 2004 calendar. Told "out of stock." A week later I saw posts on these boards saying "I just bought the new calendar!!!"

3. This issue. In my last message all I said was that I wanted to return the item in person when I return in May. The response I got back asked me (for the second time) for the item SKU, purchase location, blah, blah, blah. All of that info was quoted elsewhere in the email!!!

I know a lot of people have had great success with MMO, but so far I'm not one of them. :confused3
 
You won't have a problem, I've returned things under similar circumstances. They'd take it back at any Disney owned store, including your resort shop, (you don't have to return to MGM). Just keep your receipt handy (though I've even done a trade without one). :)
