Merchandise locations

Are candy shops considered merchandise locations or QSFB? Like the one on Hollywood Boulevard or on the Boardwalk, or in Frontierland. I know there are many others as well. I just want to see if they are merch locations.

That is exciting news about the Pirate League. I love pirates (only love ninjas more!) and I am going down on the sixth for merchandise. /crosses fingers

Those shops are considered part of Merchandise Operations.

Cast Members statused to those areas are, however, required to adhere to the same safety guidelines as Food & Beverage Cast Members, particulalrly with regards to Personal Grooming.

Great! Thanks so much. I'll definitely request a candy store!

I will say while a pp said they loved working at WoD, I hated it... I literally cried every night after work. My normal shift was 5:30pm - 2am. I hated my life. The only reason I did another cp was to figure out why everyone loved it so much. This time I had amazing managers and an amazing role and I loved every min. of my time down here. (I was a FGIT or BBB hostess). WoD isn't for everyone, while it is always busy, it's a 26,000 sq ft store with 3 stock rooms and approx. 40 managers. If anything I would request a resort because they're slow (WoD can do $1,000,000+ the week between Christmas and New Year's) With a resort you will get decent hours and still be able to pick up shifts in the parks if you want...

OT- Ahh! the fact that they have cps this semester at tpl makes me sad! I tried to use my networking (former FGIT and worked under 2 tpl managers ) to get placed there this semester! I would SO trade in my wand for a sword.... In fact I may go talk to them tomorrow... lol

I've worked in 2 merch locations at Hollywood Studios as a CP and I couldn't imagine working anywhere else! But I also really wanted to work in a park and DHS is my favorite park. I started on Hollywood Blvd, what is called Left Block, but it's really Mickey's Of Hollywood and Keystone. I absolutely loved it up there. We were at the front of the park so it was always busy but we didn't have strollers. Got to see HSM and Block Party everyday, it was great. The only downside was we were open way later than the rest of the park which just meant later shifts.

I was transfered to Sunset/Animation halfway through my program and I love my current area for many different reasons. The area is really big, all of sunset and the animation courtyard. We have lots of different work locations and I hardly ever work in the same place 2 days in a row so it's never boring. The area is noticeably slower than the front of the park though. We also have sweet spells, the candy shop so we have a lot of food training also.

I know everyone is probably partial to their own area, but I really couldn't imagine working anywhere but a park. I just don't think I would be as happy or excited to go to work if I worked at a resort or dtd.

what about working in resorts?? Is it funner to work in a resort near one of the parks or to work in the actual park itself.

The nice thing about resorts (I've learned) is the hours are more steady since the shop isn't tied to a park's hours. You also get to know Guests as they stop in every morning for their milk and newspaper or just to visit on their way back to their rooms. In the parks, it was always a scurry to get to the next attraction. The energy in the parks is exciting, but resorts can be a lot of fun as well.

i never even considered working @ one of the resorts.
i think that would be kinda fun depending on the resort itself!
do a fair amount of cp's work @ resorts for merchandise??

A fair number work in Resorts. I currently work in Resorts Merchandise as a CR Cast Member and a lot of the other CMs in my area are CPs/ICPs. It's certainly not as high a percentage as in the Parks, though.

All depends on the projected labour needs.

Can you request a certain area to work? I wasn't asked if I would prefer a certain park or resort, and I arrive February 1st.

By now they probably already have you placed in your work location. Though you can email the your recruiter and request a certain location. Most do this right after they get accepted into the program though.
