Quite a bug bare of mine this, after visiting this time and seeing the goods on offer i personally feel not only is it ott in the pricing but the variety considering they are now running the New Gen festival is absolutely abysmal.
Sam my wife loves the film Ratatouille and its characters Remy and Emile,so theres me thinking i will try and get her a cuddly one of both on our visit,
Could i find ONE insy winsy toy NO not one. Now again bearing in mind its the New Gen festival and along with Monsters Inc and the Incredibles you think the powers that be would somehow get something sorted especially as Remy and co are French! They are so missing out on so many sales of these products. Im sure that someones kids have been enquiring and wanting these particular characters ?
Tbh im sick and tired of seeing the rest of the same crap in the shops that it gets to the point of boredom with the fare on offer. Its overpriced tat.
Disney know that the guillable public that visit the parks will buy anything .....wrong they would certainly buy a lot more if their prices were reduced.
So i left the park a frustrated guy not able to find one Remy but saw this one in the DLHs shop

and i somehow didnt think these ones are for sale as its a window display.
My other really big bug bare is the way the shops/merchandise in the lands are literally all over the place ,yes i know its all about sales (ive worked in this line most of my life) eg in Discovery land there were POTD stuff scattered about on stalls and shops. If each land had its own goods on offer again imho more would be sold.
I left Disney feeling completely deflated tbh after spending the best part of
K2.3 inc spends not mentioning god knows how much in petrol money! Its lost touch with the ordinary customer who they see just as a cash cow and no that they will come in droves armed with cash and will be prepared to be mugged at every opportunity/fleeced out of their hard earned cash.
Yes im a dissapointed guy after our visit and it shouldnt be that way ...i could mention numerous things

Stars in cars parade route etc
Customer service from the cast members .....the basic hello/bonjour seems not to emit from 90% of CMs mouth
Once Upon a dream parade ...looking and feeling tired/worn out same old same old ...

DLP for me left me short changed this year in so many ways...along with the feeling that lets take as much brass outta everyones pocket ......

THE GREAT MAN HIMSELF WOULD BE MORTIFIED LOOKING DOWN TO SEE HOW HIS BABY HAS TURNED OUT

I don't think you'll have many folk disagreeing with you that the merchandise in the parks could be much much more varied. For a return visitor like me though, this can work in my favour (usually on a budget), because if theres nothing new to buy, we just won't buy anything ;). I do agree that Disney is definitely missing a trick by their lack of new and interesting items to tempt their guests with at DLP.

The parades all over Disney don't change that much do they? I mean, OUAD parade has been going for 3 years, don't they tend to stay the same floats etc in the daily parades for a fair few years in every Disney park?

While the merchandise is far from amazing, I've always found it better than what's on offer at WDW. We actually saw quite a few Paris imports during our recent trip to WDW (pyjamas, flip flops, pens etc.).

Most of the themed toys turn out to be rubbish tat.

My little lad bought a Buzz Lightyear grabber and pistol last year. Both of them broke within a week.

Next time we go, I'll tell the kids they can buy a memento and use their spends to buy a decent toy back in the UK (Lego or something similar).

I do agree about the variety - on our first visit we wanted to get ds a toy tigger and they didnt have any, which seemed bizarre as they had every other WTP toy around :confused3, but tbh everything we've bought has been very good quality in my opinion - the plushes are lovely and our Buzz guns are still going strong after 2 years (despite the usual abuse they get from boys ;))

well, I couldn't find a cuddly sully at wdw either. I guess with an empire the size of disney, it'd be impossible to stock absolutely everything. and I've seen world of disney at wdw :)

its all poor purchasing imho ...if you run a festival showing the new characters get the merchandise in ! Give me the damned job!

it can be frustrating when you want something but cant find anything there. it would stand to reason that with the new generation festival that they would have merchandise corresponding to the characters.

totally agree.....couldnt believe i saw some Attas and Fliks out of Bugs life in the park!

My wee boy wanted a slinky dog and you would have thought with Toy story play land just opening and there being a ride......
It was our first visit and we didn't buy much but would have spent a bit more had there been more choice especially with the toy story stuff

We are going back in November am I right in assuming there won't be a host of new things in the shops?

The merchandise does seem to be very hit and miss. We've bought some wonderful items at DLRP including some DL imports and I definitely prefer the clothes at DLRP to the ones at WDW.

What a shame that you couldn't get a plush of Remy ~ my youngest DD bought a really cute one of him a few years ago, I suppose it was when the film was just out, but it really is shortsighted of them not to have plushes of every character to purchase.

However IMO the main culprit that makes it all seem so expensive is the exchange rate ~ when we first started going to DLRP it was around 1.50 so everything seems as though it was really cheap then in comparison to now. :sad2:

i could only buy one set of the princess and the frog pinsand they where hard to find and i would of loved a tiana ornament but again seeing she was so high profile thes merchandise wasnt there,:confused3
i also was looking for a adress book but couldnt find one:confused3 ,the disney photos album s are nice but very poor quality ,i have worked in retail 30 yrs oh how i would love the job :cloud9:
my 13yr daughter harldley bought anything this year she saved her money and bought a I love london hoody on the way back and belive me she CAN spend money lol

is it easy to get a disney autograph book or should I get one before we go???

very very easy - they sell them in practically every shop in the Village, in the hotels, and in both parks :).

I've just got back and agree merchandise was poor it was the same stuff we saw in december altho there was less choice
