Has the mercado improved in the last year i heard it had been taken over. It was a really nice shopping mall years ago, our friends used to run mr b`s toy shop but returned to the uk a couple of years ago. last year it was deserted glad to see the cricketers arms was still going strong though. Also is festival bay fully open now?

The Mercado's days are numbered. According to the Orlando Business journal (http://orlando.bizjournals.com/orlando/stories/2005/08/01/story1.html), it is expected to be demolished within the year and replaced with " $1.5 billion Mediterranean- and water-themed complex called Aqua" which should open in 2008.

Hi Catlady thanks for that have you heard anything about the cricketers arms pub it is a very popular place and would be a shame if it had to close down do you know if they will be relocating.

Good question. I haven't heard. I would imagine that it and maybe a few more things (Titanic Exibition?) might move elsewhere. I do wonder how low rent is at Mercado since it is so empty, so it might be hard for a business that is doing OK at Mercado to make a go of it anywhere else. I'll keep my ear to the ground and report back anything I hear!
