Menus and pickiness

We are going to DL for my son's birthday over Thanksgiving weekend. I would like to take him to dinner possibly to the Blue Bayou. He is annoyingly picky with his food. Could I ask them to put something on the side? For example, The Bayou Porkchop could I ask for the apple wedges to be on the side? or is that frowned upon?

Its your food and your money, request it the way you need it. Its not like you are asking for them to completely change the way they prepare it, just the way they plate it up.
