Menu help with dining plan ... (appetizers)

So I am trying to guesstimate what we need to budget for tips and I was wondering about a la carte menus ...

Can you order the soups/salads as the appetizer too? (We are on DxDDP). Or is it only what is listed under Appetizers/Starters?

Soup or salad is considered an appetizer, unless it's an entree sized/priced salad and is listed in the Entree/Main course section of the menu.

Thank you! My hubby is not very adventurous food wise, so he will probably stick to soup or a salad for his appetizer then
