For 24 people!

Appetizers: Cheese tray, and maybe a dip (haven't worked that out yet!)

dinner:

One maple sugar glaze spiral slice ham...
Hash brown potato casserole
Green Salad
Green Bean casserole (one with the crunchy onions)

Need one more side, but not apple related.... DD is allergic to apples!

Maybe going to do Jeafl's pineapple stuffing..sounded good, need the recipe....

For desert:

I ordered a pumpkin/bourbon vanilla cake. (gourmet ice cream and cake included), and maybe a quickie round of cupcakes for the kids....

Drinks:

3 12 packs of soda
2 bottles of sparkling pear cider (Maybe more?)

What do you all think? Its going to be buffet style, (Don't have room for any other way, in my tiny house!)

some veggies and a dip with the cheese will always be good...

stuffed mushrooms for the side too is delicious....I love to have those when we are having a ham dinner.....also little carrots are delicious

Cindy --

My SIL makes a great pineapple stuffing. She also makes a great spinach/stiove top stuffing/cheddar cheese side dish. I have both recipes if you'd like to see them. :D

The menu sounds good! Mabye some cranberry sauce on the side? :D

Here's how I do stuffed mushrooms, Cindy.

Cut the stems out of white mushrooms. And yes, I wash them. I don't know how people don't. Cut away the "dirt" end of the stem, then roughly chop the rest of them. Finely chop an onion, and add the onion and chopped mushroom stems to a pan in which you've heated some butter and olive oil in (about a tablespoon each for 2 10 oz. mushroom packages). Cook over medium low heat until the onions are soft.

Put some flavored breadcrumbs (I like Colonna Italian flavored myself) and grated parmesan cheese in a bowl. I'd guess about 1/2 cup of each. Add the onion/mushroom mixture to the breadcrumbs and mix well. Add more breadcrumbs if the mixture seems too wet; some milk if it's too dry. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Stuff each mushroom cap with the filling mixture and place on a well buttered baking sheet. (Like a jellyroll pan.) Place a tiny pat of butter on top of each and bake at 350 for about a half-hour (until the mushroom caps are cooked).

You can make these ahead of time, cover them with foil, and bake them to heat through on party day. Also, I think it helps to use a very good parmesan cheese. Reggiano parmagiana with this recipe is excellent.

I was going to suggest carrots too - maybe glazed with brown sugar. Another idea that we always seem to have at our family dinners is a pasta - baked ziti, lasagna, etc.

Oh, and maybe some rolls.

There are a couple things I made when I had people over that everyone loved...One was an Orange Cream Fruit salad (Or I suggest doing some type of fruit salad or pasta salad) and then Orange Lemonade Punch, and Parmesan Puff appetizers. A lot of recipes I found on www.kraftfoods.com and they were so simple to make. Good luck!

I thought about carrots, as well, but wen't with green instead of orange...

Rolls, I thought I had typed that, rolls would be there as well... Silly me!

Found a Pineapple stuffing recipe so that might go well with the brown sugar glaze.

since my family includes 2 vegetarians and one who will only eat chicken, I would suggest a side that was pasta orientated.

Ill vote for a pasta dish too, like a lasagna, baked ziti, pasta alfredo, etc... for those that dont like ham(me ).;)

See, not many people in our family like pasta.. I know strange.. my FIL can't stand it! My DD isn't crazy about it either... I suggested a pasta salad for a side, and that was vetoed!

My DH (who the party is for) can take it or leave it... its just not the biggest thing for them, if that makes sense!

My SIL was a vegetarian, I had heard she recently started eating meat again.. I asked her about her food preferences and she said she had no restrictions...

For the appetizer, what about a simple taco dip. That is usually a big hit! Or you could do sausage w/ crackers to go with the cheese.

You could always add corn for a side. It's easy enough.

another appetizer - one package of cream cheese - soften to room temp - olives - chopped and pecans - chopped - mix all together until smooth - serve with crackers

Sounds YUMMY!! (Can I come?;) )

Actually, my DH would LOVE the pumpkin/bourbon vanilla cake . . .
Where are you ordering it from?

Cindy,
You forgot:

PORK BRAINS!!!

Additionally, you will need entertainment. May I suggest a lovely young man from Florida who will put on a grass skirt and dance to Don Ho's greatest hits.

Its actually ice cream... from a new microbatch ice cream place called 32 degrees... the pumpkin ice cream is to die for! Bourbon vanilla ice cream is really good too, with a homemade layer of pound cake in the center.
