mental health day.

I wish I could take a mental health day! Mind you, I'd miss about 2 or 3 lessons worth per subject if I missed a day. Most people in my school have suffered an in-school breakdown at least once during their high school education.

At least the teachers are sympathetic about it.
I've had three or so this year.
I almost just had another one.

I don't care how hard someone thinks high school is, it is never as bad as college. I got a 75 for a VAGUE THESIS STATEMENT. For those of you playing along at home, that is twenty five points off for ONE SENTENCE in a 700 word essay.

I have college classes, ap classes, and regular high school classes.

I hate school. I really do. I've never been so stressed or so tired before this year.

And I can't even miss a day. If I miss my morning history class, my grade drops a letter, no excuses, no exceptions. I could be hit by a bus on my way to school, and my grade would still drop.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. What about seeing if you can drop the college courses, and try to take it slow so your health doesn't suffer? Although it hasn't been school-related, I know what it's like to push and push and push yourself until you can go no further.

That's... insane.
I am sorry.

I feel your pain. I really, truly do. I take all honors classes. (Okay, maybe not a big deal for some people.) Honors Chemistry and freshman do not and should not mix.

if i drop the class, i don't graduate. simple as that.

life is just really freakin hard sometimes and you get really stressed out, and the people in charge don't care, and you have to fulfill your obligations anyway.

and i took chem 1honors last year, it wasn't super fun, but i just suck at math/science.

Wait, you have to take college courses to graduate high school? Are you on honors or AP track?

I think I'm interpreting it wrong.

1. You take normal high school classes, on the AP track. (In senior instead of junior)
2. You also take college courses to get a head start.

these college courses are counting as my highschool credits, and then i can later count them as college credit. but the classes are legit college classes. I'm the only teenager in one of them.

ugh, i take all honors classes to, and one AP class this year (i'm a freshman to). it's such a pain. although i'm doing semi-decent in:

AP Biology
Honors Geometry
Honors Spanish
Honors History

but, i'm not doing well at all in:
Honors English.

so far, my test grades in there have been 92,78,__(i think i failed)__, and __(i think i failed)__. i really need to get my act together in english =(.

but anyways, i really want to take one. sometime in mid-october, my mother is going to allow me to take one. i'll probably use it on a friday..

I asked my mom again today. She said that if the school didn't want us to go that day, they wouldn't make us go.
That adults with jobs worked through highschool to get those personal days.
She doesn't think teens have anything to stress about, and that since we get weekends and summers, we don't need mental health days.
She told me that I didn't need one.
I couldn't convince her otherwise.

Oh puh-lease. If you don't need one, she doesn't need one either.
School is exactly like having a job. The only difference is pay, job = money and school = knowledge.
Plenty of jobs get weekends and summers off too, does that mean they don't need a personal day?

Sorry Kayla, but your mom is making me angry.

Shelby, so you omitted regular HS courses to take the college courses?

She's actually a SAHM. So really she can have a personal day whenever she wants.
I told her she is not understanding what I'm talking about, and she says that she does because she was in school once.

That's alright. I was angry at the time too, but I just dropped it.

And I do think she just wants what is best for me, but I think she goes overboard a lot. Just taking a day off from school every once in awhile isn't going to cause me to fail every class and not get into college. I can get it all turned in and get A's on those assignments.
She thinks that I can do just fine without taking a day off and if I can do fine without it, then I don't need one.

no. you can only take six highschool classes at a time, because there are only six periods a day. so to take eight classes, i'm taking two college classes along side my highschool classes. but the credit counts as both high school and college credit, but they're real college classes.

and kayla, your mom (and most people in general) would cave under my schedule. i'd love to see her do two weeks of this before needing a day off.

Shelby, I would say...

So what if you graduated a year ahead, yes its sorta amazing, but i mean..whats so bad about graduating with your OWN class? *To me, I think that'd make it extra special, its like..you go in together, you come out together*

Yes you only have 1 more high school class that needs to be completed.

I would still take that extra year, rather have 2 equally harsh years, then one HUGE whopping one that makes you so stressed you think youre head is going to come out your butt.

Im just an 8th grader. I know nothing, but i most certainly remember my brother going through high school, and this is just my opinion.

If you've taken 3 mental health days, THIS far, you know somethings got to be changed.

Srsly, I need a mental health day TOMORROW!!!!
Full university courseload + job = THE WORST.
This was my schedule this week;

MON; School 8-1, Dr appt @ 2:30, work @ 4-11. didn't get to go home
TUES; School 8-4, drive sister to school for 5, work 6-10
TODAY; School 8-1, drive sister home, work 3-10
TOMORROW; School 8-3, work 6-1030
aaaand I have an assignment due friday, haven't had time to start it yet!!!
I sincerly don't even know when I'm going to have time to do it.
my last few weeks schedules have pretty much been the exact same.

I'm getting VERY sick of only being home to SLEEP!!
And on top of that any free time I have I try to see my BF (otherwise, I'd need aNOTHER mental health day just for the stress of being away from him)
And I cant even remember the last time I had a home-cooked dinner!!!

It's very difficult to find time to myself/ to hang out with my friends right now.

I'm about ready to explode.
I WANT TO QUIT MY JOB, but I neeeeeed the $$$$!!!! arrgh!

-end rant-

Now looking back, i'm not sure what i stressed about in high school. ya, it can be hard at times, but ive never been stressed like i am now, than ever before.

i've not taken any, i just need one.

my english class is over early december, then i'd only have seven classes.

i've already paid a lot of money for the english class.

if i stay in school next year, i will not have one single required class to take, so i would have a day full of electives. that is so completely pointless.

it would be silly to stay in school when i don't have to. trust me, in like three years, when you're a junior and your guidance counselor has your transcript and says 'you're one credit short of graduating this year' you'll bend over backwards to take that class. lol.

oh gosh now im scared out of my mind for highschool i thought my day was hectic but i acctually have lots of free time  now i feel like i need more too do but for all of you whose days are crazy im sorri what u need is a trip to disney!

Oh.

Im sorry, I misread that wrong. I thought you said you did.

Yes, Im sure id be the same..but if you bulked up on electives this year, then wouldnt you have a few more classes next year to complete?

Plus, with pathways, sometimes you need to have electives for it to get into college.

Like..

Im going to cook...so they would probably make me take the cullinary class.

Arent you going into photography? Or is that just a hobby of yours?

I guess it all depends on the way your school works.

i have seventeen required classes, and then three electives, and I have all of my necessary classes. In 3 years, i've gotten 20 credits -> the minimum graduation requirements.

and I want to be a photo journalist.
