My mom doesn't let me have one of those.
I wish she did, but even if I did have one, I'd have a lot of homework to catch up on. I probably couldn't afford to miss it.
my mom was the one suggesting it.
i've been going to college and highschool lately, and i'm just exhausted. i get up early and go to school an hour before anyone's there, to take a us history 101, then i do all of highschool, then i come home, do hours of homework, and then i do english 101.
its exhausting.
I've asked my mom a couple times, and she knows I'll get my work made up.
She just refuses to let me take a day off unless I'm sick. She doesn't think there is any reason for it. Even though she knows I have a lot of clubs I have things to do in and some of my classes are pretty hard.
When I ask she just tells me that she never got one, which I don't understand why that matters, or she'll just say because and that's the end of the conversation.![]()
Yeah I could totally use a mental health WEEK!
I get up @ 5am everyday, go to school, usually go to work (for the past month I've been getting 5 shifts a week!!! HELLO IM IN UNIVERISTY!!! IM KINDA BUSY!!!!) SO I usually don't get home til about 11-11:30ish, then I get roughly 5.5 hrs of sleep, then I get up and do it all over again, trying to squeeze in time for my VERY important readings/hmwk.
All while trying to maintain a relationship and something of a social life.
It's not working out too well for my ATM.
ETA: And I don't get a day off until mid-october for thanksgiving....but then again, i'll probably be working that day anyway.
I take mental health days. The way I see it, school is our "job" and our "pay" is knowledge. If adults can take personal days at work, I can take one at school.
I only go to school Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for now. Tuesdays and Thursdays are my rest days, my "mental health" days. When I get better, I'll only take one when I need it.
Kayla - Sorry, but that "If I didn't have it, you don't need it" attitude some parents have really chaps my hiney. Isn't a point of being a great parent being able to give your child what you didn't have? Ugh.
Shelby - Take the day if you need it. You have the rest of your life to go to college, your health is more important.
If I take a mental health day, i'd freak out at the end of the year.
We have 'vouchers'. And you get out of a certain amount of finals if you meet a certain criteria. One of the criteria is attendance.
