We've booked elsewhere already.(Grand Legacy) but we plan on meeting up with family during our DL trip later this month, and our relatives have decided to stay at Menage, mostly because Menage allows pets. We don't HAVE to all be in the same hotel but it would be convenient. We are traveling with 2 toddlers and Menage looks a bit further out than we prefer, but still potentially walkable to DL with the kids in strollers. Reviews online for Menage seem really hit or miss. Has anyone here stayed there relatively recently? If it's at least clean and comfortable and still within walkingdistance it's tempting to switch our hotel plans.

I've never stayed at the Menage due to some complaints about road noise on the 5 side of the building years back. The Red Lion down on Harbor, and the Anaheim Majestic Garden, on the opposite side of the 5 from the Menage also takes pets. Or at least they use to in the past. A few years back the Majestic Garden was the Anaheim Sheraton and with a AAA card your pets stayed free. We had our Boxer and Shih Tzu then and we would always take them with us and ride the hotel shuttle to Disneyland with them. I made a point to tip the drivers really well so they loved seeing us coming with our pups.

The Menage is not too far for walking but you do have to walk across an overpass over the 5 freeway. I always see people doing it when I'm around that part of town but nothing like the big mass of folks that head south on Harbor blvd after Disney closes for the night. I suggest you go to google maps street view and you can see what the walk looks like.

If you are a SPG rewards member, then the Four Points might be a good deal since they require fewer points for a free night than most of the other Starwood hotels in the DLR area. But for SPG hotels, we prefer the Sheraton Park on Harbor (I think they also take pets). It is more walkable for us (the walk goes right past several convenience stores and a 24-hour CVS), and we've never had a bad stay there. We haven't stayed yet at the Four Points, but the proximity to the freeway makes us a bit leery about noise.

Wherever you stay make sure you call the specific property and ask about any pet fees. Some places say they are pet friendly but then charge really big pet fees or limit the weight of the dog to 20lbs.

We have stayed twice, both times before the recent brand / name change so it still had the very cheap failing Hotel Menage rate. It was no fine resort, but we were happy enough with our experience. We happened to get the same room both stays, on the I-5 side, though we were so beat we didn't notice any highway noise. All the staff was polite and accomodating and we enjoyed the 24 hour pool (though not sure if that perk survived the new brand change).

A few complaints were that the pool area had dirty dishes and trash left around it for so long I was tempted to clean them up myself, the elevator was a bit frightening and shakey (I remember reading a review comparing it to the Tower of Terror and yeah, that felt accurate, haha!), they offered room service and we took advantage, but then regretted it as it took forever to arrive and wasn't very tasty (kinda like hospital food?), and lastly, the walk was longer than I liked most days.

If I were you, I'd stick with the much closer and newly renovated Grand Legacy and let them meet you at the Disney crosswalk or your room. The ease of staying across the street is so convenient, especially with small kids.

Have fun planning!

We stayed at the Menage once and will never return. It's like staying on the off-ramp of the freeway. Relentless freeway noise. Really bad.
Plus, the décor is kinda strange. Zero Disney magic. They try to make it like a slinky, sexy nightclub atmosphere in the lounge. Big drapes hanging from the ceiling, etc.
We got it suuuuuper cheap several years ago, something like $75/night. We only needed a couple of nights so booked there. Lesson learned.

Thanks folks. Based on the responses here and reviews for Menage, I think we'll stick with our reservation at GL, and we can all just meet up at the park entrance.

Meeting in the esplanade is relatively easy. I haven't stayed at the Menage because the poor reviews have scared me off. We love the Sheraton Park and end up there often (or did pre-DVC)
