Men reading in the bathroom?

Why do men take reading material to the bathroom? Do you really get that board? At my office most the men take a magazine or newspaper with them to the bathroom. They even have a magazine rack in there. All I can think of is gross - aren't those full of germs?

Do you know what we have in the women's restroom? A scale. :rotfl2:

I have no clue, my DH has never done that. Personally why would you want to spend more time in a room, that most likely if you are sitting there, smells?

I can never figure it out, either. I think that they have the luxury of sitting there for however long. I know when my kids were little I couldn't lounge on the pot or I'd return to chaos. So I wrapped things up quickly. It's not like it was my only potty break all day!

And I can't believe that I'm discussing this on the DIS... I think I've reached my own personal low (and my previous low was pretty low...) :rotfl2:

:lmao: :rotfl2:

My DH doesn't do this, thankfully. He's more germ-phobic than I am, so I could never see him doing that!

It's the only place we can find enough quiet to read for any length of time. :teeth: :teeth:

Oh but that's exactly right.

My DS, 13 ....he would love that I'm sharing this, by the way....goes into the bathroom just for the purpose of reading. It's irritating and funny at the same time.

If there are any Kevin Smith (Silent Bob) fans out there, he has a wonderful story as to why this is such a bad idea. Results are very painful to say the least. I recently got to see him live and he took almost an hour telling the story. We were rolling in the aisles with laughter.

My hubby doesn't read in the bathroom, but I take the mail in there with me sometimes. That is the only time I have a minute to myself. And I do mean a minute, because one of my 3 girls usually comes barging in after that. :sad2:

I don't know why men do it. Makes no sense to me.

But at my job the ladies room has a whole bookshelf of books and magazines. And everytime I go in there someone placed a book on top of the toilet paper or left a magazine on the floor. I don't want to know so I am not asking. :rolleyes1

Not sure why men do it either. Maybe they have a harder time concentrating????

If I am in there more than 30 seconds DD is usually knocking on the door to show me something or ask a question.

This is how DH explained it to me. Now we all it the men's reading room.

I don't understand it either. I don't find the toilet seat a comfy place to sit, much less spend anytime reading. I see the guys at my office do this all the time--take in a magazine or a newspaper.

DH does it too. It totally perplexes me.

I mean, why would anyone want to actually stay in the same room after they've... um... they've... you know.

Sometimes the reading material he brings in there shows his desperation. I'll see him grab one of my real estate mags, which I know hold no interest to him whatsoever. It's like whatever is handy, is okay for a restroom trip. :confused3

My DH does the crossword in the back of the tv guide . . .sometimes he might be in there quite a while . . .especially if the puzzle engrosses him . . :lmao:

Maybe taking in reading material--ANY reading material--stops them from being thoughtful and introspective. :teeth:

I don't get it either, but it totally grosses me out. Just seeing the books/magazine racks in other peoples restrooms skeeves me out. Ew! How icky and germy they must get after a while!

sory can't help you there- I'm a WOMAN that reads in the bathroom -= guess I learned it from my father...LOL
I keep a book in there are all times & if I use the kiddos potty I usualyl ask them to bring me a book - I can always get a couple of pages read while I'm in there & often (not always) peace from the kiddos.....

I have seen DH use a phone book in a hotel. Talk about desperate!

You win! :lmao:

That's waaaaay worse than my DH! I wouldn't put it past him though...

Why do women always go to the bathroom in pairs? To talk to each other while conducting business?

We take reading material in since there is nobody to talk to.
