Men driving "new" Volkswagen Beetles?

One of the men here at work drives his wife's every once in a while. He is an older guy (just retired) and a rancher- kind burly and tall. It is rather comical to see him folding himself out of a neon green bug with a white daisy on the front.

Never! And I always notice since it is my dream car. I've told DBF about my desire to have one before and the first thing he said was, "I would never drive that."

I've seen a few and they really stand out. Some cars I just assume, right or wrong, a girl will be driving when I see them. The Beetle, Eclipse, and any car that has a lei hanging from the rear view mirror.

It not just the Beetle, last marketing survey I saw showed like 85% of all Volkswagen buyers are women.

The only one I can recall with a man driving it was at WDW near POP. Dude was in a CM uniform and it had all kinds of Disney stickers on it.

My brother just made a comment last week about how the beetle is a "girl car". I have seen a man driving a new beetle once - it was a red one with black dot decals that made it look like a lady bug.

In the early 70's Ford offered pink as a color for Pintos, Mavericks and Mustangs. A co-worker's wife had one.....and every time his car was in the shop, he had to drive the pink Mustang.
