"Men are idiots

Everyone has a different sense of humor. Her husband may think it is funny. I bought my husband a t-shirt that says "Comfortably Dumb" because my husband ASKED for it. He thinks it is funny. He is just secure enough in himself that he is not worried if people really think he is dumb. :confused3

BF has a shirt with Homer Simpson on it that says, "I'm Smrt"

He has another one that says, "Correct me if I'm wrong. Everyone else does."

And another that says something to the effect of "I'm lazy and loud, but I'm fun" or something like that.

Is that bumper sticker any worse than "My wife's other car is a broom"?

I know a woman (slightly) who has this bumper sticker on the back of her big SUV - "You call me a #itch like that's a bad thing!" So charming to see her car parked in front of church or in carpool line. A friend of mine complained about it and the school basically said they couldn't do anything about a personal vehicle. My friend made a point of holding up the carpool line, and when they told her to move forward, she said, "I won't have my children within reading distance of her bumper - if you won't take a stand against that in a school setting, you'll have to deal with parents who WILL take a stand." They

Wow. There are so many other things to worry about that I really can't imagine myself staging a protest about the B word being on a bumper sticker. :confused3

If the woman isn't too embarrassed to have such a bumper sticker on her car at church, I doubt your friend "taking a stand" would bother her much.

I don't want to get you boys here in an uproar, but why DON'T guys get sick of being portrayed like idiots all the time?

Because we know that it's not true. Men are PIGS, not idiots. :rotfl2:

I've not seen this on cars, but I've seen this on cars, "My other car is a boom," and these were cars driven by ladies.

Well, I never put ANY bumper stickers on our vehicles. But i do get a kick out of seeing the funny ones, and this one is a little funny- far from the best ones I've seen.

But no, I'm not offended by it. In sit coms, commercials, etc. we're always men are bumbling fools, and that's fine. Call us whatever you want, as long as you don't nag too much, feed us well, and well...you know....the pig part...

when the "my kid is an honor student at xxx" bumper stickers started flooding our town (and it got real old, real quick) someone started printing up and selling "my kid is a dishonor student at (the local juvenile detention facility)". these were actualy quite popular :goodvibes

i prefer bumper stickers without profanity (don't like to have to explain to the the kids, esp. when they were so excited to be able to sound out words and read everything in sight). there was one that was popular a while ago that read something like "i want to be like 'barbie"-great figure, dream house, convertable-the lucky *****". that one was terrible to explain to my daughter :guilty:

I find the whole "men are idiots" thing very tiresome.

Disclaimer - I am even stating this on a morning where I went off to work very POed at my DH (minus the "D") and firmly believing that he was an idiot.

I still think it's tiresome. I don't want to get you boys here in an uproar, but why DON'T guys get sick of being portrayed like idiots all the time? Have women turned the tables that far that we have to be making fun of guys to make ourselves look better? Watch out for this on TV - especially commercials. There's always the bumbling clueless dad trying to do the laundry, messing it up, and the nodding, know-it-all mom. Can you imagine THAT being turned around? Picture this: mom trying to check the oil in the van - screwing it up - dad saying "step aside honey" while nodding smugly at the camera.

Whatever issues I have with my DH, sons, dad, whatever...saying "all men are idiots" is sexism at its peak.

My DH says men get bashed all the time on sitcoms, like Everybody Loves Raymond. He says the husband is portrayed as an idiot and the wife as the brains of the house. No comment. :rolleyes1

I find the sticker funny. Some of the bumper stickers can be so funny and entertaining.

I swear, the funniest bumper sticker I saw had me giggling all the way to work..

"My favorite teams are the Boston Red Sox and whoever is beating the Yankees" or something like that

hehehe (I'm a yankee fan and that cracked me up!)

Yes, I agree that my friend had more of a reaction that I would probably have had. On the other hand, seeing it every day in carpool is a little different than randomly seeing it in the bank line. And yes, the woman would absolutely not have cared whether my friend was upset or not - she is a "shock value" kind of person anyway, and her bumper sticker is just one of many behaviors that I find a little extreme for a typical suburban mom!

I'm pretty laid back about that kind of stuff most of the time.
