Memory Maker with Friends/Family - odd question

DW is about to go down to join her mom and two sisters and their families. There are three different Disney hotel reservations. DW is tied to her mom's reservation but not the sisters. And to make it more confusing, DW will not arrive until the trip is half over (miss the first half).

So, DW wants to buy Memory Maker (and pay for it). Is there a way to get the whole family for the full trip even when DW is not there yet? The Disney official explanation seems to imply that one MM is good for all friends and family. It sounds like if they are linked as friends it should work from the start.

We are long time Disney vets and have even used MM, but this split reservation trip is stretching my Disney know-how. Any tips would be appreciated.

You need to think in "MDE Accounts," not "reservations." Everyone who has their own MDE account needs to be connected to your wife. Anyone who is managed under those accounts will be linked to Memory Maker.

Can they connect and still have their own MDE accounts too? For example, the family all had FP setup early. DW was able to closely match but did hers separately.

Yes. The Memory Maker owner (your DW) would need to link them as Friends & Family on her account. I believe since they have their own accounts the others would receive an invitation (via email) which they would have to accept. FP+ reservations would not be effected.

I would suggest that the mom or sisters get the Memory Maker on their account and everyone can still split the cost. That way you can be SURE that all the photos get on the Memory Maker. Whoever owns the Memory Maker can always burn the pictures on a CD, share on social media or put them on a flash drive.

I have a question that just needs some clarity on it. When do I add my SIL? I leave in 2 days, they leave in 14 days. Do i add her before we go,or after we return before they go? We can't make changes to each others MDE accounts correct? We both lost sleep getting ADR and fp's, just dont want an OOPsie! Thank you for your help

Assuming you mean adding your SIL to your Friends & Family on your MDE. You can add her at any time before she leaves, there's really no reason not to add her right away. The only time element to Memory Maker is that the photos expire 30 days after your first download. Only the "owner" of the Memory Maker can download or edit photos.

You cannot make changes to each others MDE accounts, unless you share your passwords but I would not recommend that. You can add her to your Friends & Family list and she can add you to hers. However, if you are the owner it is only important that she is added to yours.

sorry to jump in on OP thread but my question is this.... when I add memory maker to cart... ( all our others plans have been made and paid for already) when I go to check out it asks who will use the memory maker? but it only lets me use one person... will the others in my family and friends be linked automatically?

The Owner is the only person that can download the pictures. Others will be able to add and view the pictures. Anybody without their own account will be added automatically. If they have their own account you can verify that you have given them permission to do this by clicking edit next to their name in your my family bland friends list. If they want to view each other's photos they will need to link to each other as well.

I also recommend claiming your ride photos rather than relying on the system to add them automatically as that doesn't always work.
