Memory Maker Tip!!!

Yes, I had the expectation that it wouldn't be out there if it wasn't ready to be out there, and if they expect me to pony up the big bucks, they must be confident they can deliver.

Yes, I had expectations.
I got slapped down.:headache:
Since I took one for the team in the form of losing pictures, I sure didn't want it to happen to anyone else if I could help it.

I have a new set of expectations.
That the powers that be will work out the glitches. Until that happens, one needs to cover ones:rolleyes1.........investment.

Thanks for the heads up. We plan to use this June. We have used PP+ at DLR. There we went up to the photo purchase line after a ride, gave them the ride photo number, and they put the photo on our PP+ account. Is that how it works at WDW? Do you wait in the photo line after the ride and they add it to your MB account?

For the issues with lost photos... Does the traditional pp card reduce problems? Is the issue with the mb or mm or whole system?

We will have not "upgraded" our pp+ preorder and I'm hoping that will reduce issues with list pictures?!

Honestly not sure if the "lost" ride photos are just an MB issue. If no one has brought this up before, then perhaps, it's mostly MB's. We had an issue with just one ride photo with our PP+ back in Nov. Didn't have the amount of issues then that we had with our MB's earlier this month.

If,as in Buzz Lightyear, you see the photo on the way out, then you go to one of the MM lines, which is usually nearby and give them the number. Then you tap your MB or card to the " Mickey Head Machine", it turns green and the CM says you're fine. But we were never fine. Most of the people I saw on lines were not fine with their ride photos either. I'm optimistic it's something that will eventually be worked out.

They can really do this...any of the photographers will except for the ones using tripods??? I would love to get my daughters picture where it looks like tinkerbell is in her hand.

Only a few photographers in each Park can take "Magic Shots". Any photograper should be able to point you in the right direction.

Another question about MM. We've used PP+ in the past and had to go turn in our voucher and get the card before we could use it. With MM being on the magic bands, do we have to stop somewhere else and get it activated or something? Or will it be good to go when we arrive? We are thinking about doing Chef Mickey's and the Pirates and Pals Cruise on our arrival day, and I would love to not have to find someplace extra to get it activated before going to CM's!

Depends how you ordered it. With resorts there's nothing needed, with ordering online you should pick up your card at will call but you may also have luck linking your confirmation number.

It was automatically loaded onto our MB's. We didn't have to do a thing!
I also had a missing photo from TOT and I emailed CS and by the next day, the photo was in my account! I just had to describe our party and the time frame.

(also, I know it was asked before but you CAN share MM with another party IF they are linked as friends/family on MDE. My friend and I split the cost and we both can see all the pictures!!

The 'lost' photos are not a magic band issue. We used the memory maker card as we had a mixed party some with bands and some without. We had a missing photo (which was recovered after sending an email) and we have also experienced this on previous trips (pre MB)....sometimes the system just seems to miss them off....

I would recommend taking a picture with your phone each time you have a MM picture taken. Then you have a time stamp and location as well as a picture showing what everyone is wearing. We had MM in December and lost too many pictures to justify the price. Also, make sure you scan at the rides or at least take a picture of your picture so you have the number. I have spent enough time on the phone trying to retrieve lost photos that I am reluctant to purchase MM again.

Can you please explain this to me? i purchased MM for our May trip and i have never done so when you say take a picture of your picture you mean from the photographer's camera? And how do i know the number of the picture? where do i see that? i hope its easier for us.

What do you mean the picture number? Sorry newbie here, i got MM for our trip in May.

Excellent!

Thanks to all! Kind of hard for me to leave my DSLR at home but I think we will be much happier not lugging it around or worrying about it :)

Personally, if you're the DSLR-having type of person, you will be sorely disappointed in your trip pictures if you rely 100% on Disney photographers. We've used Photopass on every single one of our trips, and we've never not had missing photos, or pictures that were just plain bad. Plus, you will miss so many things in the parks if you don't have your own camera. The photographers' abilities are hit and miss...they're not professional photographers by any stretch of the imagination, and it seems many of thier opinions on a "good" photo is simply that everyone's face is in the shot! For instance, in three family trips, we've not had one picture turn out in front of Spaceship Earth. We've tried photos at various times of the day and they've all been bad. We've had parts of the castle cut off, weird cropping of our lower bodies, blurring, squinting, you name it. Usually we get enough decent pictures to justify the cost, but the ratio of good to bad pictures is probably 1:5 at best. I have always been happy to have had my own camera. Trust me...you won't regret taking your own DSLR, but you will regret not having all the pictures you want if you choose not to take it and you don't get as many decent pictures as you would have liked.

I definitely think that the Photopass photographers have their place and I do pre-buy the service for every trip, but you shouldn't really rely on just them to capture images from your vacation.

Thank you for the tips everyone. We have a trip coming up in November and I hope that most of these glitches have gone away by then. However, it never hurts to be prepared for such an eventuality.

downloaded to the MM? or do I have to buy the hard copy?

Memory Maker includes all dining photos.

When you get off a ride that offers pictures, there's a display of the pictures so that you can look at it and decide if you want to purchase it. Each picture has a number on it so that you can tell the cashier which one you want to buy. Obviously with MM, you won't be purchasing it, but the number would still be needed to identify your picture.

Yes,exactly. I make reference to the quality of pictures that you could end up with also. I bring my camera and still buy the Disney package too. I guess it's a combination of still liking having control over my own pictures and not wanting to lose out of any other photo opportunity. I like having options.
