Ok, here's the deal....me, DH, dd, DS..going to WDW. I purchased our tickets, everything is up and running on MDE. My parents are coming to join us later on, they have their own tickets and MDE account, we have linked our accounts and I have booked all our fast passes.

If I purchase Memory Maker and we are all linked, can my parents have photos taken and add them to my account with their magic bands? We go home before them and I know with MM you can have photos taken for 30 days, so while we are home and they are still there can they continue adding photos to my account with their bands?

I just got the MM card in the mail. It says to give the card to photo pass photographers or dining locations. If it's linked to the magic band do I still have to have the card?

You can only use Memory maker to take photos for 30 days after the first photo was taken and each photo will remain on your account for 45 days after the date it was taken. Your parents will be able to add photos using their bands once you have gone home, but only up until 30 days after the first photo was taken on the MM entitlement.

Something you also need to be aware of is that, although you will all be able to view and edit the photos, only those edited (i.e. borders added etc.) in your account can be downloaded for free. Any changes your parents (or other family members sharing MM) make using their own MDE login will not be saved to the main MM account and will not be available for free download.

Thanks Wilma, my parents will be there within the 30 day period and I will be the one making the changes. I assume that as they have the photos taken, they will appear in my account?

If it is linked to MDE, then you can use your MagicBand instead of the card.

Yes, their photos should appear on the account as they're taken. Since they expire 45 days from the date they're taken, it is well worth checking every couple of days to make sure the photos you expect to see are on the account as it will be easier to find and add them while you (or they) are still there.

Sorry to hijack thread - but is the $149 cost worth it?

We're not sure how many ride photos etc we'd really want, and DGF is handy with the old camera anyways. How much is a digital download for an individual photo otherwise? Does the cost of all photos versus favourite PhotoPass photos make it worth it?

The 'is it worth it?' question is subjective. To me, it absolutely is as it gives us the opportunity to get photos of all of us as a family. regardless of the ride photos, the 'magic' shots and family/group photos in front of the WDW icons and other photo opportunities are more than worth the cost to us. I still take hundreds (OK, who am I kidding, into the 1000s) of photos myself but the photos we get with MM are the ones which invariably make it into the albums.

As a semi-professional photographer I absolutely think this is worth it, and without a doubt want to do this as it just gives you a quality of photo and memory that you can't capture yourself, the photographers Disney have been setup to know the perfect locations and backdrops, and give you those timeless images, when I have spent £1000's on a holiday $149 to make sure I get some nice photos is def worth it, just my opinion of course :)
