Hey all, I've read a lot of threads arguing the pros and cons of Memory Maker and whether or not it's worth it, but most people seem to be relying on the ability to capture big family groups, or pics of kids meeting characters for the first time, etc.

Husband and I will be traveling to WDW for the first time together (!) in January, and I just can't decide whether or not MM would be worth the cost. Any kid-free adults/couples able to weigh in on your experience?

DH and I got wonderful shots when we celebrated our 25th anniv. at WDW. We have not kids, but have always gotten PhotoPass, now Memory Maker. It's a great way to get both of you in the picture, but it would depend if you want to stop and have your picture taken. We have a lot of fun doing it and we had a great photographer in Epcot near Italy who kept calling me "The Queen". :rotfl2: It was great. But the pictures of us with Spaceship Earth behind us at dusk were great!

First off, great picture. I love Up. My wife and I will also be there in January (marathon) and will definitely be getting the memory maker. We went for our first time last year and loved it. The picture quality is better than what I'm going to get off my phone and the ability to edit them was nice too.

I am traveling solo, and I opted to get Memory Maker. Figured it would be nice not to have a vacation photo album full of selfies. :rotfl: I can report back at the end of next month with how I felt about it value-wise, etc. :thumbsup2

DH and I did it a few years back, when it was photo pass. It was fun and you can add borders and other editing. I scrapbook so I like to have pictures. I thought it was worth the price. I have seen people hand the Disney photographers their camera but I don't think that's right. Their job is to take pics to sell to you so it was a great way for us to get all our pics easily.

It's not something I will do each trip. But we usually end up buying a pic each trip. However next year we are planning on a half marathon and if they link the races pics to MM then I will do it again.

Oh, that would be great! I'd love to hear what you think of how the value stacked up for you :)

Sure thing! I just subbed to this thread, I'll be sure to check back in after my trip! :)

As PuppyPrincess mentioned, it's really comes down to whether you want to stop and get your picture taken. I was gifted photopass for my solo trip and it was not worth it. I'm the type of person who is OK with a handful of photos so I really didn't care to stop. When I saw the photos, I really only liked two. Personally, I'm not really photogenic. If I was photogenic, then I'd probably like more of them, but some were just bad shots.

I am the type of person who likes Disney. I don't love it. My trip wasn't a big deal. I'd recommend getting it if you love Disney and the trip is a big deal for you. If you are going to interact with the characters and not just meet them, if you want classic Disney shots, like the castle behind you, if you are going to spend all day at the park and are willing to stop at different times of the day, then get it. The people who get the most out of this are the playful types who know they are going to have a good time no matter what and consciously make the choice to stop whenever possible. Sometimes when you're having fun and there are places to be at certain times, it slips your mind.

Personally, I was more than fine just asking fellow park goers to take a picture or two.

My boyfriend and I got memory maker when we went in May, and we LOVED it. Definitely worth it. We got about 150 pictures from it, which we could download for free, without memory maker, I think to have 4 x 6's printed its something like $14.99. I could be wrong, but I do remember it being expensive.

VERY.

Got it for my Disneymoon and it was worth every penny. So nice to get lots of pictures and not have to do selfies or just have individuals. I love all of our pictures so much.

Thanks for all the replies! Lots of food for thought from both angles. Luckily I still have a few more months to think about it ;)

I was reading the FAQs on MDE about everything to do with Memory Maker/Photopass, but I'm a little confused about one thing. If you have NOT prepurchased Memory Maker, will they scan your MagicBand when getting photos taken, or will they give you a physical card?
