Memory Maker Downloads

My large extended family is sharing a Memory Maker for our trip in a few weeks. I know that Disney allows unlimited downloads of your pictures, but I have a friend who is telling me that if you download more than just a very few times initially (ie, before everyone is completely done editing their photos), that the system will freeze, and then you won't be able to download later. She said this isn't related to their being more pictures after editing, but just that the system can only handle a few downloads per account. I have not done this before, but I have looked online and on this forum, and have not found one other person who says you have to be careful with the number of times you download. Can my family members each download their pictures as they please, or will I need to download just once or twice, and then send everyone a DVD?

I don't know if my number of downloads would qualify as a lot, but we did one download of all files, unedited, before doing anything else. There is a button for "download all" and the system broke down my total 480 photos into 12 sub-groups because it would be too big to download at once. We downloaded those onto my computer once and then burned those to 4 sets of CDs for all the families on our trip. THEN I went in and edited photos to my heart's content, adding borders, signatures and stickers. I can't find a way to select a group of photos for download - I can only see "download all" or "download photo" on individual pics. This resulted in at least 100 pictures that I downloaded individually. So far, I've not gotten frozen out or any error messages, although the system can be slow.

I'm pretty sure the literature also refers to "unlimited downloads., so I'd definitely call if I encountered problems. Sorry for the wordy response - hope that helps.

We used MM over two trips this summer. We hit download all 5 or 6 times, and there were a LOT of photos....at least 1600 original photos and more than 2300 when the edits were done. I didn't realize that you could go back in and the files would be in there to download again, instead of needing to recreate the files to download (and that you didn't have to hid download all each time you wanted to put them on a different computer). Either way, we had no issues downloading them. I also agree with the PP that said that if you do have issues to call, as it does state unlimited downloads.

Yes, I just read about downloading from the "my downloads" page, instead of initiating a new "download all" session. But glad to hear it worked both ways! Yes, I'll have to call Disney if it gets stuck. Thanks!

I just got back from a trip with 3 families sharing MM. I also downloaded all originals as a back up. I found out from a Photopass cast member, that you can only have unlimited downloads from the person's account that has ownership of the MM. So you have to either give them access with your password and let them edit and download in your MDE account or download them all and give them a CD or flash drive with pictures on them. Also only edits and borders added in the primary person's account can be downloaded. I thought we could all edit and download in our own MDE account since we were "family and friends" but this is not the case....
