MEMORY LAN: EPCOT rides 15 yrs ago?

Just came back from my delayed Disneymoon at WDW.

I hadn't been there for 15 years and was shocked to see all the changes in Epcot.

Does anyone remember the rides that were there 15 years ago?

Why does Spaceship earth seem a bit less to me? Did they take out all the cool stuff like Tomorrow's Child song? What happened to the Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers number on the movie screen?


What was the ride where Soarin is now? What about the GM ride of Transportation? That was pretty cool? What was the ride that took you on a journey through land, sea and air? Where did they all go?

I missed them!!!!

Oh... to flash back to Epcot.... where my love of Disneyworld began!!

First.... yes, Spaceship Earth was changed several years ago.... and my favorite song is gone....

The World of Motion .. my favorite ride at the time, is long gone....

Horizons..... travelling sideways, and the HUGE screen are LONG LONG gone....

Journey To Imagination.... as we all remember.... is a distant past.....

and even those crazy Fake Elevators at the Living Seas and the short but fun ride through the fish tank!

Just listing these makes me grateful I have these memories... mostly from 1984, 90 and 91.

Thank you Catrin...I thought I was imagining it....I miss thsoe rides terribly! I'm not a "fast thrill ride kinda gal" I did go on Soarin and enjoyed it but I was terribly disappointed that the rides I loved were gone...I think the corporate sponsors that ran those rides abandoned them...

Along with Disney's perception that folks want THRILL rides--not the stuff that you (and I!!) loved from before. The only solace is that at least we got to see and ride them. Current visitors will never know what they missed.
I can still smell the oranges from Horizons---

I remember back in 1984, during my 1st visit to EPCOT and I thought one of the coolest things was making dinner reservations over a video screen/phone in the exhibit part of Spaceship Earth.

Despite the fact that I enjoy Test track and some of the other new rides, I miss the fact that my kids will never get to experience some of those rides that were there back in the early days of EPCOT.

Hey...at least you can get the Horizons orange smell in Soarin' now! I was so excited when I smelled it!
