Memory foam question

DH and I got memory foam for our bed at christmastime, and DS9 has been begging for it ever since. So the easter bunny brought him one and we let it air out overnight (the fumes were AWFUL!) and put it on his bed. It was a different brand than ours, which had no smell at all. He sleeps with his head completely under all the covers and now I am wondering if these fumes will be harmful to him while he sleeps. Does anyone have any thoughts?

We have two memory foams on our bed and they were stinky when we first got them. I am a burrower when I sleep so I cover up as well. I had no problems. Eventually the foam will be done off-gassing and it won't smell anymore. If your son gets sick (headache or upset stomache, hives or breathing problems) he may be having an alergic reaction and you should probably remove the foam until it stops off gassing.
