HI :wave2: Both DD's 14 & 17 are asking for one for christmas. Where can we get the best price, here in Ontario. I need a twin and a double. Does Ikea sell them? We will be going to get DD17 a new bed thier, for her birthday which happens to be Dec.26.

Hi there. Best price that I've seen on them is at Costco. I've been watching them since summer, and they have never been reduced with a coupon or anything. My Mom just bought one last night for DH and I for Christmas :thumbsup2 Queen size was $136.99 plus tax I believe. I'm hoping that we love it as much as the people we know that have them.

We got a king one at JYSK in Burlington. It was on sale at the time, but I can't remember for how much. I believe the price was in line with Costco, however you don't need a membership to shop there. They also had all of the other sizes available. I don't believe Ikea has them -- I believe what they do sell are mattress toppers that are not made of memory foam.

There are many different companies that make memory foam mattress toppers. The original, Tempur, costs around $700 for a 1" king-sized topper. Obus Forme also manufactures them in varying thicknesses from 1" to 2.5" with the 2.5" king-sized topper at $379. I have also seen toppers for $299 (Home Outfitters, 1.5" thick) and $200 (Wal-Mart, 1" thick) for king-sized mattresses.

Like other products, I would venture a guess to speculate that you pay for what you get. There must be a reason why the Tempur topper is so much pricier than one from Wal-Mart...

I just bought an Obus-Forme 2.5" topper for my parents for Christmas, so I'll let you know whether they like it once they get to open their present.

Well, if you could wait one day after Christmas, on boxing day Home Outfitters will have all their memory foam items at BOGO!! Buy one get one 50% off! I believe the double is between $149.99 and $169.99. These are by House & Home.

We bought the Novaform ones from Costco and they really are quite good for the price --- double is about $120 and twin about $110 --- and quite thick (2.5 inches.) If you go to the Costco canadian site you can check them out there (you can also get them in the store as well.)

Hate to be the negative one but we bought ours from Costco a year ago (queen size and about $120.00 with coupon) but we aren't relly happy with it. Everytime I go to make the bed I have to "yank" the mattress topper back up as it tends to start sliding down the bed. We also find it too soft for us, as both DH and I have back problems. We hoped we wouldn't need to buy a new mattress (our mattress is only about 5 years old) but I think we'll have to as the topper just doesn't help. :)

I got one at Zellers a few years ago for my DS11 and he just loved it. I don't know if the whole quality thing makes a huge difference to children the same way as it does to adults. They just don't have the same weight to throw around that we do. Most mattresses and toppers last a lot longer with a child.

I agree that children seem to be far more resilient than grown-ups. With all of our earned aches and pains, a good night's rest tends to be priceless. I hope that by opting for a more well-known brand, the quality of the topper will be excellent for my parents who are 60 and 61 with all of the aches that those ages entail.

I work at Costco, and remember, if you buy it there and you don't like it, you can return it no problem!! :goodvibes

Thanks for that info. :goodvibes I know of 3 couples who have them, and they all swear by them. I'm hoping ours to be a similar experience. :teeth: It's currently "expanding" on my livingroom floor. :rotfl:

My DD22 hates her bed! It has a huge, plump top that she loved in the store a couple of years back and now sinks into! Would one of these memory toppers help 'firm it up'?? Make sense?

The Op asked about memory toppers which I belive are different than mattress pads.
I just bought my mother a memory pillow at Linen and Things and it was about 25.00 They also had the mattress pads, and they are about 69.99 depending on size

No, she already has a mattress pad. I was thinking with these being denser and fmore rigid, perhaps they may firm up the bed?

Just remember to keep your receipt... it makes things easier, even though it would still be possible to get a Costco Cash Card without a reciept.

Good luck! :teeth:
