Does anyone know if magnets affect memory cards at all? I just bought this new small bag/wallet and it has a magnet closure- it got me thinking as to whether its safe to put memory cards in it.

Here's a link to a whole thread about that.

For the most part, it seems for the most part it's an urban legend. Chances are, the strength magnet that they put into any sort of bag as a closure wouldn't be strong enough to damage a memory card, an LCD screen or anything else...probably not even enough to demagnetize your credit card.

your link does not work

It is an urban legend. Every claim I have seen is easily explained away as something else. I saw somewhere where one was exposed to an industrial magnet strong enough to lift a car an nothing happened.

You're safe. The only way a magnet is going to affect your memory card is if you smack the card so hard with one that you break the card.
