Memory Card question

i have a question for all you camera pros,
i have a nikon coolpix S4100
about how much video can i put on either a 16 or 32 gb class 10 card ? i want to use it for taking some video of the osbourne lights and parades when i head back to disney at christmas. i will use a separate 8 gb card just for taking pics. the camera is set at 14mp.

How much depends on the quality you're recording at with the camera. Also the file size will vary from camera to camera so 5 minutes of HD video on one model may be a larger or smaller file than the same amount and quality of video on another. Many camera manuals will give you an approximation for your model.

I don't know about the CoolPix, but I've noticed on many cameras if you put it in video mode it will tell you how much time you can record based on the size of the card and what else is on there. That would be how I would first check it out.

Due to Euro-based tarrifs, cameras sold there are limited to shooting less than 30 min of video at a time. Many manufactures sell all of their cameras with a 29 minute continuous limit.

From the s4100 owners manual the max recording time on a 4gb card depend on video mode, not still quality.
720p: 15 minutes

VGA480p) 45 minutes

QxVGA: 2h 45 minutes

All figures are approximate. The maximum recording time may vary by make of memory card.
1 N HD 720p (1280×720) cannot be selected when recording in the internal memory.
2 The maximum file size for a single movie is 2 GB or the maximum movie length for a single
movie is 29 minutes, even when there is enough free space on the memory card for a longer movie. The maximum movie length that can be recorded for a single movie is displayed during recording.
