I ordered 2 Sandisk Extreme III Class 6 8GB memory cards on Amazon. I think I paid around $35 each. When they arrived, the label was different from the photo. They are HD video cards. (still Sandisk but with their red label instead of the traditional black) Are they different?

I just ordered some last night off of Amazon from some companies I had never heard of, I hope that dosen't happen to me. I feel like you should get what you ordered! Keep us updated.

I would assume they are different, since the ones you received were made for the intent of recording HD video.
I would connect Amazon, and explain what the problem is.
Maybe include a link to what you thought you were getting, and a photo of what you actually received.

Does anyone else out there have an opinion of these are different?

Were they CF cards? I ordered a Sandisk CF card from Staples this week with an office supply order. When I took it out of the box, I remember thinking that it looked different than the other ones I had. But, since I was at work I didn't really take the time to look at it closely. The card is sitting on my desk at the office. I'll look at it more closely next week. Sorry, not too helpful. But, I do remember the appearance of the card was different than my other Sandisk cards.

No, these were SDHC. But I'd still be interested in knowing if your CR cards were different.

I have ordered SDHC class 6 cards 4gb on-line they are black and sliver with the X and III in red.I also have the new class 10 cards and no were do they say video on them.I thought those were were just for video only.like someone else said tell Amazon what happened they are good about fixing a problem.

I emailed the seller on Amazon. They say the cards are the new updated version and gave me the phone number for Sandisk to verify. Since they are closed on weekends, I'll have to wait to double check on Monday. I hope I don't have to send them back since we leave in about 10 days for vacation!

I think you shoot Canon. I just went to Sandisk's web site and they have a list of cards for different cameras and I think the cards you have are ok for your camera if you use a Canon

I finally decided to call Sandisk to find out the deal on the cards. I had emailed the Amazon seller and they assured me they were the same, and even provided the number to Sandisk. So I called, but Sandisk says they are indeed different. What I got is geared for video recording with a rate of 20mb/s. The exremem iii's I ordered are geared for my dslr with a rate of 30mb/s. They said they would work, but wouldn't use them for sports shots, which I indeed do.

So I have contacted the seller from Amazon. Of course, I leave on vacation in just over a week, so now I'm not sure they can rectify it before I leave.

What makes the "extreme" series extreme is not just their speed, but their ruggedness. They are made to be more durable in extreme shooting conditions than other cards.

If the cards are labeled HD or Class 6, all that's telling you is that the card's write speed is fast enough for continuous recording of HD video.

If it doesn't say "extreme", it's not in the extreme line of cards.

This card is in the extreme line. I've thought it over and I'm fine with it and am going to keep them.

Sandisk has indeed started relabeling their line. And I now see that the NEW Extreme III are 30 mb/s, but the prior line I believe was 20. That was in the listing, so even though the labeling is different, I believe they are the same.

I'd like to think the folks on the customer service line at Sandisk would know best, but I had a little difficulty communicating with them. They were comparing this to the new Extreme III's, which are now labelled as class 10.

If anyone else knows different, let me know! Hopefully I have enough memory now that I don't have to try and sort this out again!

Newegg is the best place to buy cards. They will typically take them back within the warranty period even if you are really supposed to be going through the manufacturer. They are top of the class in customer service and you will get what you paid for, not a fake.
