I had so much help from the boards so i want to give back, this is my first trip report so here goes. The journey started in May with a commercial on TV about Universal Studios, the light bulb went off. So i got this crazy thought of taking a mommy/son trip. Me age 48, he is age 10. We've been to Disney 3 yrs ago and loved it but i wanted something different. So why not, i started on universal website and started planning, booked flights (this was my son's first flight). My hubby whom is military could not go so i knew then we had to fly, we live in Tn and we actually drove to Orlando last time we were there. *Never again* My new rule is "If it takes longer than 5 hours to drive we will fly" Plus i wanted him to experience the flying so glad i did because on the way back we had a 20 minute layover and the pilot let my son take a pic in the cockpit in the co-pilot seat:cool1: ok back to report, I had a hard time deciding where to stay, i asked and you guys responded ON SITE. I was a little reluctant because of money but OMG so glad i listened. I chose Royal Pacific,(it was the cheaper of the 3) but we REALLY LOVED it. The benefits of staying onsite were awesome, especially the express pass.

Ok back to planning i chose July 10-14th (Wed-Sunday), i figure we would arrive Wed afternoon and relax and hit the Universal Studios on Thurs and Islands of Adventure Fri and we even got a shuttle ride to Sea World on Sat provided by the Resort. Ok Wed, US was awesome, we rode Transformers over and over and over again, Despicable me Over and over and over, Shrek, . we were a little intimidated of the thriller coasters, if i get the rides mixed up with the parks, sorry i was confused in the parks asking the employees about a certain ride that was in the other park:confused3 City walk was amazing, my son spent his whole allowance in NBA store.:) I loved Bubba Gump shrimp, i took tons of pictures but im at work now and will have to post later:surfweb:

We had a fun hot exhausting day but Thurs was a little different, we got up headed to IOA and wasnt that excited, We rode Spiderman over and over and over, hehe, then off to get wet, soaked would be the better word with the Popeye ride, over and over, and then off to Jurassic Park which was fun, My son has not read any Harry Potter books so i knew we could maneuver rest of park that early with others headed in that direction, Simpsons ride my son cried, it was a bit much, Motion stimulator was a bit much :( We left the park after that to simmer down and get in pool. RPR had pool activites for kids, spash contest dance and water balloons, and fruity drinks for their parents while they watched:lmao: We even saw a luau which was a first and fun. Sat morning we got up ate breakfast and headed to meet shuttle for Seaworld, another fun hot day. We saw all the shows and rode a couple rides, Journey to Atlantis, fed some dolphins, and walked and walked until we were worn out.
We came back to resort, rode the water taxi one last time to view city walk again and came back to pack to leave on Sunday. To sum all this up,

We had 2 day passes for US/IOA, we got in free at Seaworld:cool1: (military families can get in free if you have not been there in a year) Stayed On Site I noticed i didnt mention food, we ate at Burger King, Bubba Gump Shrimp, Bula at the resort, Islands at the resort, So much fun, still thinking about it and YES we are going again!!!! Sorry i had to cut it short, gotta get back to work:wave2: if any questions please ask. oh yea we had the best Driver who took us back and forth to airport. Mr. Tony Hinds, Hinds transportation, i found him right here on the Dis Forum, such a sweet and nice guy.

I love reading trip reports, I wish more people would post them. Thank you for sharing yours. Is sounds like you had a terrific time!

Thanks for posting! I'm taking a mom/daughter trip with my 12 year old next month. We're planning on 4 days on site and in the Universal Parks before moving over to a Sea World partner hotel and spending some time there. Do you think 4 days is too much for the two parks, given that we may spend some downtime at the resort each afternoon?

Hey Miss Zeeeeee, i do remember you from a thread. :yay:

you asked about the tickets a coworker won that you wanted to use.

i'm sure the info i gave you was correct.

now tell me if it was...

Actually we stayed 4 nights at resort, but we spent more time at US than at IOA but we spent extra time at pool . The resorts provide a shuttle to Seaworld. The only thing it leaves at 830 1130am and comes back at 640, 820,9something but u need just about all day to do whole park. Hope this helps.

Hi yes I remember u and nope, we could not use co-worker tickets. They were issued to her and we needed I'd. We purchased military tickets and we even needed to show military I'd at gates. So I'm glad we just purchased them on our own to prevent the hassle. Thanks.

i had no idea you couldn't use them since they had the bar code and were unused prior.

hopefully the military ticket rate was good
