Memorial Week Cruise May 24-29, 2009

This will be our first cruise (I'm sure I stated that) but I'm learning so much on this site. Trying to remember everything, lol. That's great to know PC has characters. I think had I not known that we would have head up top.

Can you tell me if you've ever taken drinks of any kind on board? Water for hubby, diet for me, and beer for son and son in laws. I could see it could save ALOT of money. Is it common? It seems to be allowed. What is your experience?

Also, how is the seasickness really? We plan to wear the patch. Anything needed for the kids? The last thing I want to be is sick, not fun.

I have to check our room numbers but we are on 7. Near an elevator but I think it's the back one. We are cat 11 and have inside staterooms. Have u heard anything about those? These trips are soooo expensive we just figured we'd cut cost where we could and also figured we'd be out of room alot.

Our grandchildren are from age 2-8. None of them have ever been to Disney. What a treat this will be for them!

Tke care-----------M

We have not brought drinks on board but last year there was chatter on these boards about new rules for water - you couldn't just bring a case on board without putting it in some kind of suitcase anymore.

There is free water and soda on the pool deck 24 hours and at meals so you don't need to bring soda and the water is okay - I would rather bottled but don't want it bad enough to carry it. I would search the boards for the topic.

I have been on a bunch of cruises, this one 3 times prior and only had one night of rough seas. Just a random storm. Bring some dramamine type stuff. I have seen people with the bands on but that is the only night I noticed any movement AT ALL. Plus you are on a lower floor, supposedly there is less motion lower down.

The basics of all the non-suite rooms appear to be the same so I would expect you to have the same experience as anyone else, minus sunlight in the am to wake you up. You will probably spend almost no time in the room anyway.

I thought of one more tip - If you need booster car seats, Walmart sells one for kids 30 lbs and up for under $15. Last year I bought them for my girls, boxed them up and shipped them to our cruise ship room (you can find out how on the port's web site). They were in our room when we arrived. Then we carried them with us to the rental car company after the cruise. Even with the mailing cost it saved us money over renting them from the car rental company.

Some of us are driving and other's flying. I haven't made up my mind yet. Waiting to see what my son does, I think. He is the odd man out (the other's have their families) and feels like such being older, going to Disney. I keep telling him he'll have alot of fun and we're making family memories.

So anyway, we can bring most of what we'll need. LOL, watch, we'll pack the cars, then not fit in. LOL.

Would we need the carseats for transfer on Nassau? I'd hate to have to carry them around all day.

Looks like a great trip ahead with (I hope) smooth sailing.---M

(Wondering where everyone else went???)

I don't think they make you use car seats in Nassau but we have not been in a car there.

hillfam - you may think we are nuts but we have never done any of the excursions. The girls were so little until now and my husband really just wants to go back to the BC Hilton beach again this year.

Whatever... I am going to get myself a nice massage... I hear any the Atlantis stuff is all great and some day I want to do the stingray thing.

As for others, we are so far out from the trip, I'm sure others will join in when it gets closer. I for one am just going to live vicariously through these boards while I await another amazing Disney vacation.

G-Ma- Thanks for the congrats. We are so looking forward to our celebration.

CMWT - Welcome. Do you know your room number yet? We are 6080.

Sorry I have been absent for a while. This is the beginning of my busy season at work and I don't always get to surf as much as I would like.:sad2:

Just thought I would check in with all of ya'll real quick. Hope you are all warm and having good Disney thoughts!!

:beach:

Hey, Everybody! Sorry for me being absent as well. I am getting more and more excited as time passes. We have made our hotel reservations before the cruise and I am eagerly awaiting to make the spa reservations online when we can. I am almost finished with our magnets and now I notice anything that's disney when I'm out; looking for new ideas!

My husband will be coming home at the beginning of March, so that only adds to the excitement!

Everybody take care!

CMWT - thanks! I'm a spa girl myself, so I can't wait to make the reservations when its time.

Ditto on the massage. Hubby and I are planning a couples massage. Can't wait to RELAX.

Hillfam----my daughter reads through these and she is excited for you that your husband is comming home. Her boyfriend is in the army, right now sent to Egypt, been deployed since Sept. and will be there a yr. They tried to put in for leave for him to join us on the cruise but it's a no go. He has 6 yrs in and did two tours in Iraq.

take care-----M

I'm back, too! Thanks for the previous tip regarding the fuel surcharge. We have connecting rooms (2594, 2596) and got an onboard credit of $140 to reverse the fuel charge. We had already gotten $50 on each room booking with our Disney VISA- so now we have a total of $240 to spend! I say WINE but the kids say ARCADE. Can't please everyone!

It's only 4 months and 4 days until we cruise!!:cool1:

Thats saying a lot for us because we booked in July 08. Today is a free day at work for me because of the holiday so I've been working on my magnets and getting more and more excited each day.:)

Did everyone get their Disney planning books in the mail this past week? It seemed all so close when I went to the mailbox and discovered that book.

If anyone is interested I have a bunch of disney clipart and pictures that I've collected in the past 6 months. Just send me your email address and I'll send them to you. I have a bunch in my photo bucket on the web if anyone wants that address. :artist:

Hope eveyone is Healthy and excited. See all you you all soon!! Don't forget that on March 10 we can book our reservation for palo, massages, kids club, excursions. Take care all!!! :cheer2:

Thanks, g-ma. This is my DH's 4th deployment and last because he will retire this year! Its been very rough on us all and he deserves a fantastic vacation. I got a chance to make our pre-cruise hotel reservations and working on reserving CS in PI. I think we will be able to reserve things online in Feb, because we added the RES pkg. From being on the board, I think it will open 1 minute past midnight on our reserve date. Looking forward to making the spa reservations and DS' activities. Im getting kind of gitty taking it all in! Take care. :rotfl:

Hilfam--How excited you must be for your husbands retirement from service. Many years ago my husband was in the Navy and those tours can be long and lonely.

I'm getting gitty too. So much still to do and lol, I think I'm on information overload. How nice it will be to sit and take it all in.

Is anyone not understanding the whole magnet thing? I find addorable ones
and have no idea what to do with them.

Jenelabri, I could sure use help. Should I put my e-mail on here?

Hope all of you are well and enduring the cold o.k. So waiting for spring to come.-----------M

This is a link to my photo bucket. In it you will see some magnets that I have created. You can also browse through all my clipart and pictures and use what ever you like for your magnets. All you do for your magnets is choose a picture, type on it whatever you like (You don't have to put anything on it) and print it on magnet paper that you can buy at walmart, target, hobby lobby, exc. I've never cruised before so this was new to me as well but I talked to a few people on here and figured out how to do it. Let me know if you need more help. I can email you whatever you need.

Thank you so much! Your magnets are adorable. The kids will love them. I'll get this figured out before the cruise (good thing I have time). I found some cute names on the board, just not all of the names I need. I guess I just have to play with it a bit. Thanks--------m

:tinker: Hi Fellow Cruisers (and Mom)~:wave2:

Welcome Kelly Lou. Between all the people in this forum we are to be able to help you out with questions. there is so much stuff to learn on here. I'm not sure how in the world I would be prepared for the cruise if I didnt discover this discussion board. :confused3

So read up and ask questions, thats the only way I was able to learn the stuff. Don't get overwelmed. :crazy2: Just sit back, relax and surf the discussion boards until your hearts desire :beach: See you in may!!! :cool1: :cheer2:
