Memorial Day weekend menu thread. What are you planning on making this weekend? Also, I just want to thank all military and their families for their service to our country and our allies around the world. My ancestors served in both World Wars in the American military, the Union Army in the Civil War, and the American army in the War of 1812. I believe I may have ancestors who were veterans of the Revolution but I have not been able to confirm that yet. Anyway, I hope you all have a wonderful, pleasant, safe, and respectful weekend. :-)🙏🇺🇸🇺🇳

I will be home on my own, so I don’t have a special menu planned. I did postpone baking a pineapple upside down cake earlier this week, so I may do that for the weekend. Otherwise, I have fixings to make chili, hot dogs, or pizza, so probably one of those will end up as the main course.

didn't really plan it this way but i guess the menu is in memory of meals past-i cleared out the freezer of all the extra batches of meals made over the last few months (stuff i cook double or triple for freezing). we can look back fondly on-pulled smoked pork, shredded beef enchiladas and grilled chicken. i'm so ready for bbq season to kick in but the weather here has been wacko (not that i'm complaining about any extra bit of rain we get).

Probably going cherry picking either Sunday or Monday. I think Chili's is on the menu, although I just go so much ground beef that I figure I'm going to make burgers when we're at home. But it's going to be a fun weekend.

Pool BBQ/pot luck party for my community Monday. They'll sell burgers and hot dogs, and the community folks bring stuff to round out the meal.

I'm bringing a homemade fruit tray and allergy-free cupcakes (with or without frosting - gotta check the temp planned for Monday)...this way, I have a full meal even if I can't eat anything else...

update Sunday I was out shopping with dd so we made chile cheese dogs.
Monday I’ll make ribs, roasted corn, mash potatoes (Bob Evens), baked beans and Hawaiian rolls
Does baked beans even go with mash potatoes? If not, I’ll have to make something that’s goes good with baked beans lol!

Hopefully Bbq ribs. I’m going shopping tomorrow so I hope to find some that are on sale. I’m hoping they haven’t sold out.

if I buy ribs then the menu will be

BBQ ribs using Kinder garlic bbq sauce
roasting some corn in the air fryer
baked beans with pieces of brisket from Sam’s club
potato salad or Mac salad

🤦🏽‍♀️forgot to pick up some Hawaiian rolls

#2
burgers and bacon wrapped hotdogs

not sure in what order but these are my two menus for two days Sunday and Monday. Saturday might order out or cook Saturday and Sunday and leftovers on Monday 🤷🏽‍♀️. My husband works Sunday and Monday so it will depend what he feels like eating on what day

Since we’ll be opening the pool and finishing getting the yard ready for summer & DD18’s grad party, we’re just having something quick - hamburgers & hot dogs on the grill, baked beans (Bush’s), onion rings and maybe some pasta salad.

Just DH and me this year. The rest of family is at ComicCon.
DH just had a tooth pulled, so limited on things he can eat.
Planning dogs of some kind (hot dogs or Kielbasa). I'm making coleslaw. I think he wants butter pasta.
Sunday will be burgers....not sure what else.
Monday steak.
Sides will be determined day of to how his mouth is doing.
Pasta, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese are possibilities.

I'm not in charge this weekend for the first time in several years! Yippee....No idea what the hosts are serving and I'm totally ok with that.

I don't know. First Memorial Day I have had off in over 42 years. But to be honest, best I can remember, never did any special meals prior to that either.

We usually did these holidays at our PA home so I'd make all the sides and we'd grill, but are at the townhome for this and probably the 4th no grill. I'm thinking we'll make our way to a beach somewhere and settle for cocktails to toast those memorialized and order whatever is on the menu at whatever loud music beachy spot we land at, if I have my way at least. I'm ok with the tradeoff ;)

Crawfish boil tomorrow with hamburgers and hot dogs for those who don't eat crawfish.

Deciding on sides and desserts.

We are heading out of town tomorrow until Monday evening so we will be eating out more than usual. Tonight we are grilling burgers and having jalapeño popper pasta salad.

I am thinking of having a traditional BBQ (aka burgers, beans, chips, watermelon and corn) at some point over the next 3 nights but we will see.
