So, my wife and I have travel vouchers to use through Delta and since my wife's birthday is May 27th we are considering a quick trip do to Disneyland. The dates in questions are May 25th-29th Most likely not all of those days, but most likely 2 of them. It's a Monday though Friday and in general we would most likely choose Tuesday and Wednesday just to try to avoid the crowds as much as possible.

Does anyone have experience going this time of year? We have gone the last few trips in December because we love the decor so much, but this last year it was so crowded it kind of made things a little less magic than we had hoped, and we are wonder how the crowds compare during Labor day week.

Thanks Gang!!!!

DOH!!!!!! you're totally correct, but when I tried to edit it, it wouldn't let me edit the Title...... Maybe if a MOD see this they will help me out.

I expect very high crowds on Memorial Day weekend (Fri-Mon) this year because the new parade, fireworks, and WoC will be debuting on May 22nd (Friday before Memorial Day). My guess is that the parks will see an uptick in attendance as guests come to see the entertainment. The SoCal Select AP blockout begins on June 5th, so those guests only have about two weeks to get into the parks to see the new shows before they are blocked out for the summer. THe good news is many school districts are still in session, so that might mean moderate crowds during the weekdays (morning and early afternoon; not sure about evening).

It's also worth noting that there are grad nights slated for May 26, 27, and 29. Some folks try to avoid grad nights, while others don't really think it makes a big difference. When I've gone, there is a noticeable increase in crowds as the day goes on, especially at the "thrill" rides. There are more groups of teens than normal, but like anything, there is no way to know if they'll be well-behaved or not. I would say that most groups are fine, but unfortunately, there are the ones that will be rowdy. The grad nights are held at DCA starting at 10:00 pm (I think), but that doesn't really impact DCA's closing time (it normally closes around 10:00 pm anyway).

In terms of changing the thread title, as the original author of thread, you should see "Thread Tools" just above your first post in the upper right corner. Click on that and there is an option to "Edit Title".

Thanks Figment!!!! FYI, I lurk on your dining review thread all the time, and it is super helpful!!!!

We went to DL that same week two years ago. Honestly, it was great! There was a big dance competition at the DLH over Memorial Day weekend, but the dancers cleared out on Memorial Day. We checked into our hotel on Memorial Day and went to the parks Tues-Thurs.

We hit the parks right when they opened each day and it was a breeze. It didn't seem crowded at all to us. We left each day for an afternoon break...would leave by 1pm and go back around 4-4:30pm. Two nights were grad nights, but we tended to stay away from Tomorrowland in the evening and did those rides earlier in the day so we didn't really notice tons of unruly teenagers.

We are going to DL in June this year instead. If we could go that week of Memorial Day week, we totally would. Hardly any CA schools are out at that time so you're really just encountering Arizona and Utah families there for summer vacation.

There is so much to do at DL, I would highly encourage you to consider 3 days instead of 2!

We'll be there that week with our family! I'm anticipating bigger crowds, and grad night shenanigans. Thanks to advice I've read on here, we'll try and get the big rides done early on grad days and go with the flow when things get crazy (we have three little kids so afternoon breaks at the hotel will be a must!) :-D

We'd picked the dates before I realized the grad night schedule OR the 60th anniversary celebration details, but I still think we'll have a great time. It will be awesome to be there in that first week to see the new things! Two of my daughters have birthdays that week, so it will be a birthday trip for us as well.

I'll be reading to see what others have to say, especially those who have been there that week!

The week after Memorial day is very, very crowded. However, the week after Labor day is very light and one of the best times to go during the year except that HM is down for its overlay. So if you can postpone until then the crowds well be great.
