Memorable Millionaire Moments

They were doing that thing where the camera focuses on varied people in the audience. They focus on a young man wearing a shirt buttoned way up to his throat.

The host says "Look at this guy. Hey, relax, undo some of those buttons." The young guy laughs and undoes one button. The host says "Loosen up. You're on vacation. We're not going on until you unbutton some more." The guy just laughs. The host gets up, runs over there and unbuttons his shirt for him.

I am so bummed its gone.

We were Millionare junkies.. we would play four-five times a day. I always got number one /two on board and my husband would either be right ahead or behind me. Either I was number 1 and he was number 2, etc.

One day he got in the hot seat due to a missed question and I didn't! He got up to 125K question and missed. It looked really good...for a cruise for a while there.

We would always place on the board but never ever got the fastest finger.

My 1 & only time going to WHTBAM-PI, I got it the hot seat! (That you disboards for teaching me how to punch the buttons quickly.) My DH & 2 DD's had gone to get their faces painted & to meet JoJo, so it was me, my MIL & FIL. I had been telling them for years how I'm a trivia junkie, but noone ever took me seriously.

When we were seated, the lady next to me proceeds to tell me she's a regular & starts to give me tips (wrong ones). She talked my ear off. So I shared me tips with her.

Game starts. On the 1 fasted finger, I got it right, but backwards (earliest to latest). So, we're playing the game & the 1st scoreboard comes up. I'm #2! I'm like, Game on! Now I got serious. Thankfully, I knew all of the other questions before the answers came up & the guy in the hot seat was out by the 16,000 point question.

Here comes scoreboard #2. it slowly puts up the numbers, hesitates, then #36 was #1, me! I wish I had a picture of my inlaws & the lady next to me's faces! I, of course, push them out of my way & high tail it to the hot seat!

I swear, I almost couldn't breath. Plus, I didn't know there were time limits to the questions, so even more pressure. I got to the 32,000 question before loosing. I will forever know that a hippodrome is found in a circus! :rolleyes1

Got my hat & pins & wore them all day. Noone is allowed to touch them but me! :rotfl: Shame that it has closed. It was one of the best times of my life. :goodvibes Sbella

I think we've only played 4 times, but on our last visit I shared all the DIS Millionaire tips with my family. I was so excited to see DH get to the #1 position that I didn't even notice I was in #3 (#4?), too. I think that was the same trip where we saw DIS members EmperorZurg and Zurgswife there, and their youngest daughter was in the hot seat. We didn't know until reading his trip report afterwards, though, that they were DISsers.

I'm sorry to see the end of Millionaire. DH was determined to try to win a cruise this time.

My husband got into the hotseat Dec. 2004 and made it to the 64,000 question. After he won the 32,000 question and got the polo, etc. the host asked how he felt, my husband said "Hot Dog" . The rest of the day, people kept coming up to him and saying that.

I only made it to the 2,000 question. I was so nervous, that I picked the US instead of the UK as the origin of the show. Stil kicking myself.

It was a great attraction and I am really going to miss it.

I agree that they really need to get rid of Sounds Dangerous.

There have been so many great moments that I wouldn't know where to begin. I guess number one would have to be playing the game with my kids. Both my son and daughter were in the Hot Seat twice when they were young enough to be allowed an assistant (namely me). On three of the four times, a question snagged us at 16,000 points that required the use of the Ask the Audience lifeline and each time the audience majority gave us the wrong answer. On the other time, my daughter and I went all the way to the top of the stack and won the cruise. It was her very first time in the Hot Seat, so I guess beginner's luck may have come into play.

One of the best parts of the show has been meeting so many wonderful people. The final two days were full of familiar faces. There were at least six former television show contestants in attendance and at least eight million point winners there (three people were counted in both of those groups). Lots of other great players there as well who have just missed winning the cruise. I only hope that someday another great attraction like that will open up at Walt Disney World or elsewhere. Since there are stage shows now of Family Feud and The Price is Right in Atlantic City, it could certainly happen that another Millionaire type show may appear somewhere.

I posted this on another site but thought it might be of interest to some here as well. Here are some statistics for the show as a whole as well as some more specific to my own experiences:

Total number of Million Point Winners at Disney-MGM Studios: 126
Date of last Million Point Win: 8/13/2006
Youngest winner with help: 8 years old (happened twice)
Youngest winner without help: 14 years old (I think)

Personal stats:

Number of trips to Play It!: 13
Number of times I was in the Hot Seat: 12
Number of cruises won: 1 (not counting my daughter's win)
Number of polo shirts won: 10
Number of times I at least was read the 32,000 point question: 12
Number of times I saw and missed the million point question (including when assisting my children): 0
Number of lifelines used in the first 5 questions: 0
Most Fastest Finger wins in a single day (without random punching): 3
Most tie breaker Fastest Finger questions ever played: 3
Number of times a wrong answer in the computer kept me from the Hot Seat (though I got in during the next show and the host had even acknowledged it was wrong): 1

Favourite moment everybody saying good job as I walked around MGM that morning having scored 64,000.
I was so shocked to be there the fastest finger question was about Baseball and I'm a British Woman!!! When the compere found out a Brit had won on a baseball question he teased the audience unmercilessly :rotfl2:

My parents and I were at the first showing on Saturday! At first we thought we had missed getting into the show as we were 10 people back from entering the queue room/line inside the attraction. The cast members had everyone move foward and we got in. The show was full (obviously) and had two or so rows full of "super fans" or whatever they want to be called. The crowd was definetly more into it then in the past summer trips to WDW that I have taken, for obvious reason :) ....it was bitter-sweet and the next day I walked by, EVERY sign (literally) that there was a WWTBAM attraction there the day before was GONE.

Have a good one ....I'm home today from WDW and it sucks :(

I loved that game! Dh and i would play it often when were there. Once I got the second fastest score and another time I got the 5th fastest score. It was exciting. The other people sitting around me went nuts. I was so wanting to play it again in 2007! I don't understand why it is closing. Everytime we were there the crowds were large. SAD!!!!!

I was on the hot seat 16 times in total. Never made it past 250,000 points but have a number of shirts. This was one of my favorite attractions.

Now that there is just over a week until the MGM attraction closes, now is as good a time as any to share experiences.

Last time we saw the show, the host asked the contestant what his favorite part of vactaion was. The man said, "This of course." The host said to give a real answer.
The man, in the middle of WDW, says, "Universal was fun."
The host was shocked and shouted: "We don't talk about the BIG-U here :furious: !"
It was very funny.

I saw that a couple of weeks ago..i thought it was funny too :)

My favorite memory isn't my own either :sunny: I was at the show with my DS 8 and I ended up #2 on the last list - :guilty:

Later that day, we were in the lineup for TOT and behind us was one of the young ladies that had been in the hotseat while we were in the audience. My DS spoke to her and explained that we had seen her in the hotseat and what a great job she had done. This very sweet gal gave my DS the pins that she had won.

He will never forget the kindess of this stranger!

Did you make it to the hot seat on the last day?

No, but by that time I was ineligible. I got in during the second show on the day before the last day and missed at 250,000 points.

My favorite memory was finally making it into the hot seat after landing in the top ten every single time I'd gone. The closest I'd come before that was #1 on the very last board of the show. I didn't have my contacts in and I was just so happy to have a screen I could see clearly! My favorite part of the show was when the host referred back to an earlier question and said, "Honestly, who knows that?" and a guy in the front row bellowed out, "Yeah, really!" I got the 32000 point question fairly easily, but got the 64000 point question wrong. And now I will never, ever forget who invented the first electric motor.

I'm going to miss the game so much.

Rob, I am glad that you were able to be there for all of us who could not. :thumbsup2 Even if it was not the last day and all.

While I am sure it was disappointing not to be able to go out with a bang you sure did well anyway. Especially considering that you had much more competition than most days with all the returning champs and all. Hooray for you!! :cheer2:

Whatever will we do for brain exercise? One can only use just so much free food from those restaurants with the trivia challenges. :rotfl2:

Slightly Goofy

My 2 most memorable moments are when i got #2 on the fastest finger question and almost made it to the hot seat.
DS's most memorable moment is when he got #1 on the top ten board, but the show was over so he didn't get to go to the hot seat. :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:
