Membership Magic Beyond - AP Benefits

What was that $75 gift card offer? I never saw it.
Also: my conundrum is I want to buy MMB to get Disneyland tickets for my trip this October. I'd also get the AP, but here's my problem: I wouldn't use it in 2026; I'd activate it in 2027. Now if you pay cash for an AP and don't activate it, the money goes into holding and when you do buy an AP those funds are credited to you. But what happens if you purchased it using points via MMB? If they continue the program, and your points go into holding if you don't activate the AP, in my case I'd pay the extra points for price increases when I do activate it in January 2027. But I've seen nothing on this.
I’m also interested in knowing the answer to the last part of this post? Could I purchase an AP today for 75 points but not activate until sometime in 2026 or even later?

If you purchase an AP today, you have exactly one year to activate it. If not activated within that year, the pass will convert to a credit of the value of the pass at time of purchase. You can then use that credit to purchase a new pass or other ticket. For example, I used points to purchase APs on April 22, 2025. In MDE, those passes say "expires 4/22/2026". I will be activating them in Dec of this year.

In August and September, any WDW Incredipass would come with a $100 Disney gift card. Any Sorcerer's Pass would come with a $75 gift card. You can also use a Target Red Card to buy Disney gift cards at 5% off to pay for the passes. So that saves another $50 each. Overall, the passes were $954 each, which is about $600 less than the Incredipass would cost now.

I called DVC and asked what happens if I don't activate before the end of this year. I asked because I would activate the pass in January 2027; would I just have to pay the extra amount of any increase in cost, as is done with an AP voucher? I was put on hold for a long, long time and was told that I would LOSE the 75 points! I find that hard to believe, but that's what I was told.

You were given incorrect information. Or at least not complete information. When you use points to purchase the AP, DVC internally "buys" those points from you for cash and uses that cash to then purchase the AP from Disney ticketing. That is a final transaction. At that point, your points are gone, and DVC is no longer involved with the AP. Any future action regarding the AP is strictly between you and Ticketing, and all the normal AP rules apply. You have exactly one year from the date of purchase to activate the AP voucher. If you do not activate it within that year, the voucher converts to a credit that can be used on any future regular ticket (not special event tickets).

So yes, if you don't activate the AP within the year, you do "lose" your points (i.e. you don't get then back), but you still have the value of the AP at the time of the purchase.

Which is a pretty good deal....

That makes a lot of sense. So does that mean a voucher would be issued for the value for future redemption?

I don’t think a voucher is issued, nor can you see anything in your MDE account. Advice on the Tickets sticky above the Theme Parks forum is to keep a record of the confirmation number or other identifying numbers for the AP voucher before it expires. You’ll have to call WDW Ticketing to apply the credit. They’ll be able to see the credit on your account, but you won’t.

When you first purchase the AP (with cash or points), that AP shows up in MDE and has a note on it that it has to be activated by a specific date, which is one year from the date the AP was purchased. If you don't activate it by that date, my understanding is (based on what the extremely competent MS Supervisor who processed my points purchase back in April explained in great detail to me) that the pass will disappear from MDE and you will now have a ticket credit. You will not see any indication that the credit exists in MDE. It's still attached to your account and Disney can see it, but it won't show up anywhere in MDE. You will have to remember it's there and have to call Disney to use the credit.

Am I crazy to think this way?

Not at all! We did AP renewals this year with a combination of points we had and BOGO. Worked out nicely and avoided a larger cash outlay for the renewal, which then goes towards more Disney swag we don't really need and Mickey Premium bars that are a must.
