We went to our first Member Update in December and it was well worth our time. Yes, it was on a Wednesday, held in the Performance Hall at SSR at 4pm I believe. Here's basically what happened when we went...
Every person fills out a card for drawings at the end of the meeting. They were some nice gifts...meal vouchers,
DVC umbrella, Spa gift bag, Disney Florist arangement, some golf items, etc.
The DVC rep hits a few areas during the talk...what's going on with the whole company (Disney), within WDW, and within DVC. At a few points through the talk the rep asked trivia like questions...I answered correctly the locations of all the Disney parks and was rewarded with a DVC small ice scraper.
The day we went there was a rep from the Disney Florist, which was offering floral arranging classes for the holidays and that rep spoke about the special DVC merchandise you can order from the florist.
Also that day there was a rep from the SSR spa, who described the spa, what was available and discounts for DVC members.
When the meeting concluded, we each received one of the static stickers that says Disney Vacation Club member" and there was an opportunity for Q & A with the DVC, Florist, and Spa reps. It was here that I overheard something about bumping the maximum occupancy of the 1 BDR villas, but I couldn't hear everything, so not sure.
The one thing that we learned at the meeting, which I hadn't even seen here at the DIS boards was the policy change concerning DL...that you could now book DL within the last 60 days of your use year.
We thought it was well worth the time to go...plus we got to meet fellow members.
