Hi all. We bought into DVC on our last trip and I am not too familiar with the member services thing. Are they just for booking your accomidations or can you book dining and tours with them too???? We are staying concierge for part of the trip and I know there is the AKL Itenerary Planning Office where you book your sunrise safaris but I dont know what else they are for either. Any info you could offer would be appreciated. Thank you!:)

When you call MS there is a menu and you can select the number for dining reservations. One of the dining people told me they can also book tours as well as dining.

Thanks, I called member services before and don't remember hearing about the dining option. Mind you I tend not to listen to all the options. Maybe I should from now on. Thanks again!:)

Since member services is open fewer hours than the dining reservation staff... I could never figure out why I would want to use them. Maybe at times MS is less busy... that is the only reason that I can think of.

I was not aware that I could make dining reservations through MS, but for me this is a distinct advantage. If I ring the Dining Reservations line I have to pay for an international call. For MS I have a toll free number. Considering that nothing ever seems to go quickly if you ring Disney, I much rather ring MS.

I have made dining reservations through MS in the past, but usually I just call the dining number for that. I generallhy make only accommodations through MS, but I have booked behind the scenes tours as well. It's true, if you are booking the special safaris at AKV Concierge, you do that through the concierge desk.

Great point... I had not considered international calls. In the not so distant past... you would save long distance charges in the US too... but now it seems that long distance charges are a thing of the past for most people. However... for those that pay LD charges... calling MS would also be an advantage.

I have not made ADRs in over a year now so maybe things changed but I think at the beginning of the list of things they said you could dial 6 if you wanted to make dining reservations. That puts you through to the dining people. It was not a DVC CM who made them for me. Will find out tomorrow as I need to make reservations for September - hopefully there is something available. I will listen to the options before punching in the numbers

I believe that if you are staying in a Conceriage room, the conceriage CMs can to the dining reservations for you as well.

Yes, this is correct, as I just did it today. The Concierge CM was able to book all of my dining ressies, even though we're not staying club level for the entire trip. Very helpful, and no wait time to get someone on the phone line!

Called MS today and the menu of items was changed as of April 18 according to the main menu. Did not hear an opportunity to be connected directly to dining so guess you have to go through the MS CMs again.
