I an trying to call member services this morning before everyone starts booking the member cruise at 10, as I just need to add on a day and it keeps saying they are close and open at 9 AM....huh?

The notification on the MS site indicates they are NOT opening at 9am this morning, see bolded part:

Bookings for the Disney Vacation Club 2019 Member Cruise will open at 10:00 AM Eastern Time on Saturday, June 23, 2018. On that day, Member Services will be open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time—with hours adjusted to best support this popular Member event:

• 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM: Member Services will be available exclusively for 2019 Member Cruise reservations—and can also assist with urgent needs for vacation arrivals within the next 5 days.
• 3:00 to 6:00 PM: Member Services will be available for all inquiries.

That does not show up show for me and they should definitely be saying this on their recorded message.

Seriously, I can't see that ANYWHERE on the site and I just went and looked.

Seriously, where? There is NOTHING on the home page, I just went in and looked, checked news, etc., nothing!

Stuff like this should be on the home page and on the recorded message.

Can you see a link for “notifications?” Click on it. I think mine has two notifications to read.

I see, well they definitely need to do a better job at placing that somewhere visible, the notifications there are usually useless, so I have learned to completely ignore notifications.

I really wish the modify didn't ignore the fact that I already have my reservation, then I would add a day online. Right now it wants to essentially cancel my current reservation and book a new one when all I am doing is adding a day and of course some of my days that I already have booked are no longer available.

If I miss out on getting my next day because of this, I will be really upset and for some reason our dates are filling up and it's the end of January.

A notification IS a notification. I usually click the notification any time I go to the member site because I want to find out what that thing is.

Well, I haven't been going to site anyway, because I have been calling, why would I mess with the site when I know it isn't working properly for modifying reservations anyway?

But I did go there this morning to see what was going and skipped right past notifications, as I said, they have been less than useless in the past, so I have conditioned myself to skip over them. Seriously this kind of info should be on the actual homepage.

I understand today not going on, but I did know about the limited hours before today. Maybe it was on the Disboards, maybe from the notification. Somehow many knew to try to book a cruise today. I hope you get to do what you want.

For a couple years now, DVC has been using the notifications section of the member website to post changes to Member Services operating hours, planned web outages and similar schedule adjustments. It is quite useful, and the first place I'd recommend looking if you're confused about items of this nature.

U knew they were booking cruises, but didn't know they weren't booking anything else until 3, which really was more like 4 today before the phone system let us through. What a disaster this mess was, luckily we got our room, one more day tomorrow to add, but I would have been upset if we we're unable to get the room.

Why not just book the day online then call later to have them put it altogether (if they don’t do it automatically as they have for me)?

Because the day I need to add is the last day of my 7 month+7 day booking window, meaning the date is technically outside my booking window and thus can't be booked on it's own and availability for my dates is too spotty this year to leave to chance by waiting until the 7 month booking window opens, especially when I already have plans tickets.

If you can't book it online you shouldn't be able to add on with MS.

I can add it on because it is the 7 month, plus 7th day (well within the rules to do), right now modifying online doesn't work if all dates or your trip are not available due to a bug in the system that they are actively working on.

So, in other words, i can add it to an existong reservation, but I can not book a new reservation for just that date though, as was suggested to do.

There used to be a time that they also managed to do room bookings along with cruise bookings. It was a horror for hold times but at least they didn't suddenly decide to neglect the membership that wanted to book rooms. That was pre-online but as there are some things that still can't be done online it's tough to hear that your need rates lower than another special booking.

It didn't affect us, but it also gave those that could book online and advantage over those of us who couldn't due to a bug in their system, a bug which they were fully aware of, which is why I say 9nkibe booking should have been closed until member services reopened to all.
