I know there is constant discussion how DVC members should get more park discounts etc. but here is room discount I don't understand.

I booked a Sat night 1 bedroom Standard view with MS and member discount total cost with tax $424.20. Con - no daily maid serve, pro - payment not due until checkin.

I booked the identical room with CRO - AP rate for $356.00, a savings of $68.20. Pro - daily maid service; Con - payment due 30 days in advance.

After speaking with MS the odds of my keeping my room are identical.

Why shouldn't I get a DVC room at a cheaper rate as a DVC member?

Any thoughts?

Though I am not expert, my understanding is that the rooms being rented through CRO result from members trading out for other vacation options. Once the rooms are sold off to CRO, they can sell them for whatever they want and has no relation to what DVC cash rates are.

It sounds like you did teh right thing in shopping around but the price CRO rents rooms for has no bearing on DVC.

I don't think CRO or cash DVC reservations are divided by standard, preferred or BW view. Many times a discount is not available. When it is, it's a set 25%. Many times CRO is cheaper but you will pay tax on that also. I'm not sure the part about the same risk of moving rooms is accurate. With DVC cash, you should be able to link the reservations and it be treated as one stay.

I added 2 nights with member discount before a 5 nights point stay last May at OKW. It was treated as a 7 night points reservation. Only had to check-in once, got a parking pass for the entire week, trash & towel was day 4 counting the cash days as 1 & 2. They told me I was guaranteed to keep the same room. I talked to them about switching to an AP rate for the 2 nights, it was only $20 less per night per CRO. They told me they could not be linked just noted, we would have to go to the front desk to check-out/in to our points reservation and there would be no guarantees. Since it was only $20 I just kept the member discount. For the discount you described, I would have jumped at it. It may be a little more complicated as Dean said because BWV has the 2 (actually 3 now) view categories. This is a case where I would talk to the front desk 3 or 4 days before check-in to make sure they had both reservations noted.
