Member perks, retail but also own direct

We purchased Polynesian direct from DVC. I am contemplating also buying a resale contract and understand that resales no longer come with membership card/perks.

Say we purchase AK resale, can we still use our membership card for perks even if we are using our resale points?

Yes, with one exception. If you want to book cruises, adventures by Disney, or certain hotels, you will only be able to use the direct points for that. Most people will tell you that these are not good uses of your points, so it is no big deal.

Something to note: If you are entitled to perks, you can order blue cards for all membership numbers regardless of when/how they were purchased.

I have blue DVC cards for all 3 of my UY's even though my BRV contracts are the only ones entitled to them (bought pre-April 2016 via resale).

The big question is what happens if I sell my BRV points? Do I lose the ability to order blue cards for my other contracts? I will likely never know but have to wonder.

None of this helps with booking cruises, but if you like collecting blue DVC cards order away.

If you no longer own qualified DVC points, you no longer get member perks.
