Member Cruise Call.....

I just got the call this morning. We were interested in going because it fell on our 10th anniversary, but after getting the "you weren't selected" email we had already gone ahead and made other plans. I guess it turned out for the best as we'll now get 2-3 more trips out of the points we would have spent for the cruise.
Exactly! Really too bad, maybe now I'll just have to plan to cruise another time!

Yeah we got the call too. And made the ressies. Used up all of 08's points too. Now I feel like I was suckered into it.

I wonder if I shouldn't try to "rent" the trip out...

We got the "2nd chance for 1st timers" call yesterday. I called this morning and booked a cat 11 on deck 6. We have never cruised before, Disney or otherwise, and are looking to the member cruise as a nice way of meeting other people who share our passion. I was going to use the points for a trip to SSR this spring but really wanted to cruise, just once. I was surprised that once booked you cannot return the points for DVC reservations; only CC and II, etc. But we are flexible and have lots of options. :goodvibes

My family received the nice little rejection email as well. However, we came home yesterday to the message from DVC saying that we could still book. We hate Nassau and love Castaway Cay. We are thrilled at the chance to visit CC twice in one trip. Granted there is still room when I call them back tomorrow, we are using points for my husband and myself and cash for the kids.

It is alot of points, but it's like the lady said that sold us our points while on our last cruise. "You really have to ask yourself how you want to vacation and how often." For us, this trip fits what we need at that time of year. We're thrilled to be going and we'll be cruising with the Mouse. We're not going expecting anything grand, other than the usual excellent Disney service.

Sandy - you make a great point. It is all about what you are looking for.

If you are looking for a cruise at a great price then no the Member Cruise isn't for you. However if you are looking for something a little special in a cruise then it just might be.

We've been on all 3 previous Member Cruises and what makes it special for us is the special entertainment that has been provided.

We've taken a tour of the ship by one of the Imagineers who helped plan it.

We've heard talks by Art Linkletter and Roy Disney!

We've seen shows given by Andrea McArdle, Susan Egan, Jodi Benson and Jennifer Hudson.

I will say that the feeling from DVC themselves was more "up" on the 2003 and 2005 cruise. On the 2006 cruise they seemed to be more business and more hard sell which was a shame and did turn some people off.

We are planning on calling on Saturday and hoping to get on the 2007 cruise.

I'm glad this thread seems to be a bit more up beat! I would try to go if it fit my schedule.

Bobbi :thumbsup2

hope everyone gets what they want tomorrow in trying to book.

there are several threads started about the member cruise now
