Mel's Unflashy June 2008 TR: Funnel cakes have fewer calories in FL. Updated 12/2!!

I like MuffinyBob as well. It just fits better than Darren. :rotfl2:

Sorry, Darren, you look like a "bob" to us!:rotfl:

We all would have guessed it if you had said Samantha's husband on 'Bewitched'. Well those of us who are old enough anyway.
I don't think I can find any of those signs that say 'Reserved for Darren'. All I can find is 'Bob' stuff. :confused3 What a bummer.

I thought of Bewitched also:rotfl: but, alas he shall always be Bob to me.:rotfl:

D felt bad - he asked why Bob never corrected us. I can at least tell him that, now! :lmao:

Hi,
Just found this and am enjoying it.

I liked the capital building in WV. My family is 15 minutes away from there.

Great pics.

Hmm...muffinydarren just doesn't have the 'pop' that muffinybob does. I think I'll stick with Bob.

~Beka~

Yeah, Muffinydarren....not so much. He's Bob now.

Great SW report Bob or should we say Darren :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

I know your real name Mel :yay::lmao:

You do? :rotfl2: uh-oh.

Nope. just to be a pain, I'm gonna stick with Bob. ;)

Bob says you can call him whatever you want, V. (He's real sweet on you for some reason.....) ;)

Yeah, he is a Bob. He's Bob-0-Riffic!!!

Ha! Welcome to my world!

Maybe he will legally change his name to Bob? :rotfl:

D felt bad - he asked why Bob never corrected us. I can at least tell him that, now! :lmao:

Yeah, it was weird after we met you guys because then it seemed deceptive, but it definitely didn't start out that way. We just wanted to use something on the TR but he didn't know anyone yet! So, that's just the price he pays for being BOB for so long. Now he has to STAY Bob.... :lmao:

Thanks Scott! I'm glad you are here!

----------------

I will get an update up tomorrow morning, ok? I have my mom visiting from Boston and Gus' bday is today!!!! In the meantime, I may post some pics from FF with a ONE POST TR. Because I love you all....

First Coffee though....:surfweb:

MEL:love:

Ah, Southbridge St. area? My mom works over on James St. right near Webster Sq. and we rented an apartment on Airport Hill for a year (94-95).
I have to tell you that the thing I miss most in this life is Roast Beef Grinders from Ted's Pizza near the old Worcester Fair. I have them on speed dial in my cell phone in case I'm ever "home." What do you miss?
Papa Gino's is my second miss....:sad2:

I grew up on eating Ted's pizza!! Ted is like a family friend.... I also miss Papa Gino's, grinders (they can not make a good grinder in TX), MacIntosh apples off the tree, Garleick chocolate milk, Polar Orange Dry soda!! I could go on forever. But I do get these "pleasures" when I visit my parents every summer. Oh, I also worked at the Fair one summer during high school.

I just got back from 2 wks at Disney World, so just catching up on the TR's...

Hmmmm. Bob is not Bob, Mel is not Mel. Mel's name makes sense to me, Bob...not so much, so he will now always be Bob. This way we won't get him mixed up with TE's DH, whose name is also Darren, no?

Tell Bob that Andrew just adored him. He loved all the hidden Mickey tips he gave him. I was sensing a bit of hero worship happening :worship:

It's tomorrow morning, afternoon, where is the update missypopcorn::

Yep, Bob it is. Just like MGM. :rolleyes1

Have fun with your mom and Happy Birthday Gus!

Thanks Angela! Mom's visit was GREAT! Too short though. And Gus had a great day. He says he still feels 10 though. Poor Gus. :rotfl:

Hi! Lucky, 2 weeks!!!
Ah, Papa Ginos and Ted's might be the best food in all of MA! I don't miss the milk, though the name instantly brought back the memories! And apples are pretty plentiful in Michigan (even Mac's thank god!) but POLAR soda is something I'd totally forgotten! Remember the Polar Bear on the building along the side of 290 (I think it's near the Hope Ave. Exit)?? The college students would shoot the poor thing and deflate it every year!

Bob worked at the Fair too. He pushed carts. Seriously, if you ask him what he did at the Fair, he'll say he pushed carts. The whole time.

I worked at the Auburn "S-Mall". Sears, lingerie department. Exciting times.

Ok, so we need to discuss other "home" things. Did you ever go to UPTOWN to dance? It was near the Centrum...

Hmmmm. Bob is not Bob, Mel is not Mel. Mel's name makes sense to me, Bob...not so much, so he will now always be Bob. This way we won't get him mixed up with TE's DH, whose name is also Darren, no?

Sorry Janet! Crazy kid, crazy stuff going on here! Bob liked Andrew too!! He has a way with kids....

Probably because he acts like one himself! :sad2:

MEL:banana:

I know it’s been FOREVER since I wrote an update! Things have been very weird here. For those of you whom I don’t see on other pages, my son (SD) has been having a pretty hard time. He’s having terrible panic attacks that leave him just an absolute wreck. Hopefully, we will see a decrease in them once he sees the pediatric psychiatrist, but for now we are all in crisis-mode. :guilty:

Anyway, I’m sorry it’s been so long. I hope you enjoy my next installment! Bob’s update was great though, wasn’t it? Yeah, he’s so cool. No. I’m not going to call him Darren now. He’s staying Bob!

We left you all after our VERY late night at MGM (I know I know....), Hollywood Studios. That just doesn’t roll off the tongue does it? Well, anyway, we got a small amount of sleep that night and then that morning
Bob and SD went off for their Segway adventure. While they did that, Gus and I hung out at the room for a while and had a cup of tea. :coffee:
Sidebar: We are tea drinkers. (Gus and I) We have tea every single morning before school. Herbal usually, as I don’t want him all caffeinated at school. It was so nice to have a DVC room, with kitchen, so we could have tea. After our tea, we got dressed and sun-blocked. We are both very pale people. Bob and SD seem to have all the “darkness” in the family. Not me and Gus! Bob affectionately calls our skin, “Pink Pig Skin.” Lovely, huh?

Our plan was to take the boat to Epcot from BWV. Well, it was already SCARY hot out. We made it down to the dock on the boardwalk to wait and it felt like the sun was trying to melt us down like cheap candles! We stood behind a pole near the dock and tried to become thinner so we’d be shaded!
The boat arrived and we found a seat inside where the A/C was NOT working. Sad, huh? Oh well. This boat made a stop at BC but then we were off to the back entrance of Epcot. I’m pretty sure that we arrived around noon. We walked to the front of the Future World area and just as we rounded the corner towards SE, got a call from SD and Bob.

100_1396.jpg

They had just finished the Segway tour and were ready to meet us. We grabbed them and headed over to get some FP’s for Soarin’. The FP’s were for 1:45 pm so we had to find something else to do. Lunch at Sunshine Seasons is a MUST on every trip for our entire family! We love the variety, the fresh veggies (some grown right there, in the LAND pavilion), and though it’s usually a madhouse at lunchtime, there is always a place to sit. I had a bowl of minestrone soup that was YUMMY!, Gus had a kid’s sandwich, SD got a turkey on foccachia and Bob had a salad.

After we devoured our lunch, we got into the line for FP return for Soarin’. Gus made it a point to ask if we could have the front row. He doesn’t like to look at people’s feet!!! I love Soarin’. If you haven’t ridden this, WHAT are you waiting for?! OMG. It’s my second favorite ride at WDW!!! ::yes::

Ok, so we’ve eaten and ridden Soarin’. We could leave now and I’d be fulfilled. :ssst: But, we have more to do to satisfy the kiddos. After some discussion on our next plan of attack, we decide to grab FP’s for TT. Then we will get in line to ride the new version of SE. During the wait in line (which was almost an hour!!!!) we see this woman:

100_1394-1.jpg

Groucho glasses applied to protect the innocent, but fashionably challenged. Yeah, I cut the top of her crocheted cowboy hat off. Ooops.

SO, anyway, we waited to ride the new Spaceship Earth. We decided to pair off this way: Me and SD, Gus and Bob. I loved the new ride! I won’t post spoilers, but if you skip this because it was lame and boring, you shouldn’t now! It’s wonderful! Here’s a photo from after you disembark your ride vehicle:

100_1395.jpg

After the new ride, we decided to let the boys grab a ride on TT’s single rider line. They went off to do that and Bob and I pulled up a curb outside in the shade. It’s so nice to let them go off and do their own thing! While we hung out there in the shade, Bob decided that he needed to go find a cold coke. I asked him to bring me a Sprite. He managed to find both and returned to our shady spot. That Sprite was NOT doing the trick. I know what I need. :scratchin

Another Itzakadoozie pop! That’s two so far, people!!! I think these pops are very underrated. They have 3 flavors! All twisted up in a yummy frozen popsicle! :yay:

The boys finally returned after their ride and we all decided to return to the hotel and have a swim. We grabbed FP’s for TT for later. The plan was to swim and then shower and head out to the Contemporary Resort for Bob’s Father’s Day gift. YUP! It’s time!

Bob’s Going Para-Sailing! Whooooooo! Go Bob!!! :woohoo: :boat:

Unfortunately, the sky is looking a bit, “Oh no you don’t!!!” Well, we will keep our fingers crossed. Our trip out of the park involves walking ALL the way back to BWV, via the International Gateway. We grab our suits and hit the pool. I think the boys swam and I took a breather up in the room. I forget now, it’s possible that I went too, but I did hang out at the room ONCE while they went down and I can’t recall if this was it.

After showers, the kids came back to the room for some much needed WOW time. If you need to know what WOW time is, you can ask later..... :sad2:
Bob and I showered and got dressed. His para-sailing appt. was for 3:30 pm. That is the latest time you can schedule for a ride. So, for some reason in my notes, I have that we returned to BWV on a bus, but not how we got there.

I don’t know how we arrived. That’s not really important. Well, it wasn’t until I thought about it for an hour or so today and now it’s THE MOST IMPORTANT FACT THAT I CAN’T RECALL about our entire trip. It’s driving me crazy! I know, it shouldn’t matter. How many ways can you actually GET to the CR from BWV?

OK, this is how many....

1. Bus to MK, then walk to CR
2. Bus to MK, then walk to monorail, then monorail to CR
3. Bus to MK, then boat to CR from dock in front of MK
4. Taxi from BWV to CR
5. Get Minivan out of valet-jail and drive to CR
6. Walk to International Gateway (at EPCOT) and then walk through park to Monorail and get off at TTC. Then monrail to CR.
7. Boat to International Gateway, then monorail to TTC, then monorail to CR
8. Go through EPCOT (UGH) and then take a bus to MK, then walk to CR or monorail or boat to CR

That’s how many I can think of right this second. I don’t know what we did, but we did go to the Contemporary Resort. We walked through the hotel to the back where the boating and watercraft rentals are. As we arrived, the nice man at the desk said that they were canceling all the boating and para-sailing due to a huge dangerous thunderstorm that was coming in. It had gotten incredibly ominous looking as we traveled there (in our mystery transportation...). He offered to book us on the 9:30 am Friday (tomorrow) para-sailing flight. Bob was disappointed but he didn’t want to be a lightning rod so he said, “Ok.” We returned to BWV via bus. Yup. I have that in the notes!

Hopefully, I can get the next update done in the next few days! I hope you are all still with me! And Bob will be typing up his PEAR A’SAILING report for you too.

Don’t you feel lucky? Yes, you do!

Yay!!!! :yay: A MEL update!!!!

Sounds like you had a relaxing morning. Somehow that never happens when we're at WDW. I'm hoping this trip might be different. :confused3

So, if Soarin is your 2nd favorite ride at WDW, what's your first? I'd have to say that Soarin is my favorite, but I have a lot tied for second.

I'm glad someone's happy to see me!

Yes. We don't do rope drops. That's just not the way I want to spend my vacation. (Not that I could get them to do it even if I wanted to...)

Soarin' is my second favorite, for sure. Goofy's Barnstormer is my first. I wish it was at least ten times longer though!

I'm always happy to see you, Mel!

I've only done a few rope drops in my lifetime, but I know we've got a DIS meet scheduled in October at rope drop at Epcot. It's on our first full day there though, which will make it easier, I think. Everyone will be "too excited to sleep!"

Wow, I'd have to say that Goofy's Barnstormer was not the answer I expected! I love that ride too, but it's only 43 seconds long! My second favorites include Test Track, RNRC and Everest. What can I say? I love roller coasters!

:cool1: I'm happy to see you too !! Soarin' is my FAV. too !! I started my PTR yesterday !!Booked my trip for next May !!!!

great update and pics.

I love Soarin'.

:yay: An update.'

Too band para-sailing was cancelled but at least they were able to reschedule:thumbsup2

As forgetting how you got there...at least you took notes;)
