Mel's Pre-trip Report: Interactive Version

I read this and didnt think you talking about the already born boys! KWIM! :lmao:

O.K. Ed... THere are Baby Boys... and then there are "BOYS" Do you KNIM ?? No I'm worried which ones you were talking about.... :lmao: :lmao: either way

If the boys are not STRONG swimmers... I would say Blizzard Beach.

Do ...Do the "sleds" Racing.. Boys will love them.. make it a Family race. You back should be able to handle them.
Putting that in my notes. :thumbsup2

I read this and didnt think you talking about the already born boys! KWIM! :lmao:
No, Ed, then I would have said DH's BOYS! Ha! Though, I'm sure his can still tread water at least! Ha! :rotfl2:

ahhh Mickey Waffles...:cloud9:
Yummmmmm. I know, they looks so good.

Katt! Your posts are hysterical!! :lmao:
She's a funny one! :rotfl:

We did BB 3 years ago on our first trip..It was hard for us because Annie was only 2 and a half at the time, so we really didnt do anything. we havent been back to a Water park since..

I think your idea of letting the boys meet you after Artists Point is a good one! they have cell phones,,they will be fine,,and they will have a great time with each other and will probably remember that as one of the best parts of the trip!
I'm hoping that too! They are best friends. I'm sure they'll have a blast!

Do the boys know about the trip? I cant remember...
Yes. They know.

MEL:banana:

Mel.. take some water slide advice ... When you are going down and your hands are crossed over your chest and You are Praying that you do not somehow drown in 5 inches of water..

Cross those legs tight together like you were trying to crack a walnut.. because if those things come apart... they will fly up... water will then get up your nose as it slides between your legs... and then my dear you just may drown in 5 inches of water...

OH.... and Heaven Help you.. if you get on a slide that has a "bump" for lack of a better word... and you "catch air"... Those legs WILL COME APART... and you will come down with a big SPLASH... and then the arms come off your chest.. and you open your eyes only to get an eyefull of water... And then you DROWN !!!
OMG :rotfl2: My Dad did have to get new swim trunks after going down the vertical slide at wet n wild when I was young and I ummmm had to go to the toilet very quickly after that slide too :rotfl2:

Do ...Do the "sleds" Racing.. Boys will love them.. make it a Family race. You back should be able to handle them.
mel I have some back problems, not as bad as yours though, and I do the toboggan racers just fine but the ride next to it snow stormers kills my back, it's on the same raft but as it goes around corners just kills for some reason!!!! Have a read of my BB day on my TR, we did all the slides that I'm sure you and your family would do :goodvibes Oh another bit of advise if it's hot on the ground you must wear shoes, the girls wore swim shoes (closed in) whilst DH and I both wore our walking sandals (bit like tevas) it made walking so much easier :thumbsup2

Day Four of Mel's Intereactive Pre-Trippie!!!

Welcome back everyone. I will be posting our information for Day Four today. This is my favorite day (so far) of our trip. The reason that this is my favorite day so far is that we are doing something that I've NEVER DONE.

We will get up around 8 am. Showers all around and breakfast in the Villa. I think cereal and coffee or maybe toaster waffles. Then everyone will grab their respective "beach items" and meet at the door to the Villa. I am hoping we make it into the car by 9 am. That may be optimistic. Not sure that I can move my DH that fast in the morning. :confused3

Our official A.I.S. time should be 9:15 am. (Who's TR has this on it??? I laugh every single time I think of it!!!!!!! :rotfl2: )
Because this is our drive to VERO BEACH RESORT!!!!!!!!!!!! Whoo Hoo! I am soooo excited to go there. First, I've never been on a beach on the East Coast that wasn't in New England. I've never been in salt water that WASN'T 48 degrees! Ha! :rotfl2: The second reason that I'm psyched is that I've never been to the Vero Beach Resort. The DVC people were VERY cool on the phone. They actually put me on hold and called the resort to ask them if we can use all the facilities at VB while we are actually guests at a DIFFERENT resort (BWV). The VB peeps were cool. They said, "Absolutely! You can use the pool, showers, lockers, hot tubs, any amenties or activities and bathhouse etc. that any other guest could use. Just not a room. Isn't that AWESOME!!?? So, the plan is to spend a few hours there that day. The drive from WDW is a little over an hour, I hear.

Has anyone been to Vero? I tried to book our WHOLE trip there, but they didn't have any 1 bedrooms available for the WHOLE summer!! I guess you probably have to book it AS SOON as the 6 mo. mark hits. I would love to see your pics if you've been!

After our day at Vero Beach, we will drive back to WDW. I think the plan is to leave there by around 3 or 4 pm. When we return, we will probably grab something to eat in the Villa. I will toss our suits into the machine and dryer so they are ready to go for Pool swimming later.

I think this evening will include a round of golf at Fantasia Gardens. We pretty much play there EVERY single trip. I love the dancing Hippos!!!

Do you guys do the mini golf thing? We have played at Winter/Summerland but didn't like it as much. Any funny stories about mini-golf? Pics? Let's see!!!

Depending on whether I'm ready to collapse or not by this time, I hope to make it to Jellyrolls Piano bar with the DH for a drink or TWO. We'll get the kiddos settled into the room with a movie and snacks first.

Has anyone been to Jellyrolls? They have videos posted on Youtube of the piano players there. They look like a TON of fun. I'd love to hear your stories!

So, guys, how you liking my trip so far? Katt, did you see anything we can link up yet? I'd like to meet you! Day 5 has some VERY exciting things planned! Tune in next time!

MEL:banana:

This sounds like such a fun day. You will have to take lots of pics of Vero Beach to share. I would plan on an hour and a half to 2 hours to get there, just because you will be hitting I-4 in rush hour traffic, JMO..if V is here she can confirm/deny for me.

It's T's TR that has AIS time, I think anyway! How cool that you can go use the facilities and get a beach day too!

I've played all the mini golf courses except Fantasia, it's on our August list :thumbsup2

How fun that you are going to Vero Beach, you know we will all be counting on you to take lots and lots of pictures.

We played mini-gold in July at Winter-Summerland as you know. Never tried the other course though so no tips/advice there.

I'm signing on. What a fun pre-trippie!!!

You let us know how you like Jelly Rolls after you go. It's on my list of "TO DEFINATELY DO!"

Not Sure.. We had not planned the Water Park this time..I hate to think we will be in the same place and not catch up for a few minutes.

Maybe ... The NEXT DAY ??:confused3

We have all been great! I missed my DIS family so much that I had to plan a trip just to give myself an excuse to come back to the boards! ;)

Yeah yeah yeah just ignore us :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

Well, can you blame her??? :rolleyes1 :lmao: :rotfl2:

Love your preTR! Charlotte - been there several times - Carowinds, went ice skating once at the mall.

Day Two-Update ***Mel's Interactive Pre-Trippie!!***

Do you guys like the pool at BWV? It looks great, except I can't decide if that slide is funny or SKEERY!!!! Anyone's kids afraid of it???

I know this letting the kids go to MK alone might be rough territory for some of you. What do you guys think? I mean, if I normally leave them home while we are on a regular date, is it really THAT much less safe there? Input welcome.....popcorn::

So, that's day two. You guys do your part now!! :thumbsup2

Never done the tour.
Ohana's? I'm in the minority here. I think it is just okay - not bad, but not great. I like Crystal Palace breakfast much better. I do like that Ohana's brings the food to your table. The bread and juice is great. Other than that- it is like someone else posted - sausage, bacon, eggs, waffles.

BWV - never been there, but going first week in June. Can't wait to try the slide out.

Mk alone? I don't see a problem with it. Maybe it is because we feel like we are at home there. I would have to meet up with them every couple of hours, though and would want them in the same park that I am in.

My parents let me and a friend go alone when we were 12 - didn't even have us check in with them throughout the day. We would go back and forth between Epcot and MK.

Today's Update is Day Three in the schedule. Whoooooo!!! Can I get a "Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!?" :jumping1:

This day will start fairly early. This is not by MY choice. I prefer to SLEEP on my vacations.

Funny - WDW is the ONLY place I will get up early when I am on vacation.

I haven't been to TL since before my son was born and the last time we went to BB was 5 years ago. So, I don't know what to suggest on the water parks. I really, really, really want to go to Aquatica, though.

I will give this advice:
Hold onto your bathing suit or wear a shirt over your bathing suit.

I offer this advice not on personal experience, but on a Dissers experience. There was something on the community board a while back where a Disser lost her bathing suit going down one of the slides - as in, it came all the way off.

Love it! It is approximately 115 miles from WDW to Vero Beach. I think it took us an hour and 45 minutes to get from Vero to Orlando. We relied on our GPS and was not on the Interstate most of the trip.

First off - if you want a chair at the pool, get there before 9 am. They have tons of activities for the kids throughout the day. Some have a nominal charge and others do not. I paid $3 for my dd3 to do an art class. They made a bunny or a bear out of clay - then the CM baked them. Hers broke the day she got it back. She also did fingerpainting and that was free. DS did the Unbirthday party (free) and they got cupcakes and a goodie bag with candy. I think this party is for kids up to age 12, but it was mostly 4-7 year olds.

They have a miniature golf course there that is only $1 for members to play. We did not play and it did not look so impressive.

We liked the beach, however, it is not as large (as in the sandy area and sandcastle making area) as other beaches we've been to. They have chairs and umbrellas you can rent for the day if you want.

The pool is nice. It is about 3 to 3 1/2 feet around the edges of the entire pool, but as you go to the middle, it gets deeper. The slide is a lot of fun.

There is a grill by the pool and you can get adult beverages there. There is also a TS restuarant called Sonya's. They do accept the DDE card there, so if you have it, bring it. My dh forgot to bring the card.

You have to have a room key to access the beach and the pool - so make sure you get something from the front desk. Of course, you can always tailgate. You can get towels for the beach on the pier and you can get towels for the pool at the pool.

Oh - when we were there - there were tons of people from Michigan there.

Well, duh! Of course Jo has played the mini-golf places. Ha! :rotfl2: You'll love Fantasia. It's fun.

How fun that you are going to Vero Beach, you know we will all be counting on you to take lots and lots of pictures.

We played mini-gold in July at Winter-Summerland as you know. Never tried the other course though so no tips/advice there.

Somehow I think all my experiences will be lacking for the magic touch of Erich and Alex! Will take LOTS of pics as I plan on not nearly DYING this trip. :sad2:

That sounds like a Fun Day !!
Not Sure.. We had not planned the Water Park this time..I hate to think we will be in the same place and not catch up for a few minutes.

Maybe ... The NEXT DAY ??:confused3

Not telling where YET but maybe. It's a park day.

Yeah yeah yeah just ignore us :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

Ah, you'll forgive me right Jo? Jen has been AWOL for a while! :rolleyes1

We have all been great! I missed my DIS family so much that I had to plan a trip just to give myself an excuse to come back to the boards! ;)

So glad to hear everyone is well. I am sorry I'll miss you when you're at SSR. Maybe Xmas? Are you still going then? :confused3

AND NOW THE "ALL MIZDIZ REPLIES"
Love your preTR! thanks!Charlotte - been there several times - I may or may not have more stories that I will never ever share with anyone - not even dh.:rolleyes1 You don't have to tell! As long as it happened before it's non-admissable in court!! :rotfl:
Ohana's? I'm in the minority here. I think it is just okay - not bad, but not great. that's fine too. I like Crystal Palace breakfast much better. love the food there too! I do like that Ohana's brings the food to your table.

My parents let me and a friend go alone when we were 12 - didn't even have us check in with them throughout the day. We would go back and forth between Epcot and MK.
The times were MUCH different, eh?

Funny - WDW is the ONLY place I will get up early when I am on vacation.me too!
I will give this advice:
***** Hold onto your bathing suit or wear a shirt over your bathing suit.
Ok, this is concerning me! :scared1:

I offer this advice not on personal experience, but on a Dissers experience. There was something on the community board a while back where a Disser lost her bathing suit going down one of the slides - as in, it came all the way off.
Holy cow. That would be EMBARRASSING. :scared:

First off - if you want a chair at the pool, get there before 9 am. They have tons of activities for the kids throughout the day. sounds cool, don't know if the boys are down for that. They are older....

We liked the beach, They have chairs and umbrellas you can rent for the day if you want. bringing both those things since we're driving down this trip.

The pool is nice. It is about 3 to 3 1/2 feet around the edges of the entire pool, but as you go to the middle, it gets deeper. The slide is a lot of fun.
Awesome! I hate when it's too deep!

There is a grill by the pool and you can get adult beverages there. There is also a TS restuarant called Sonya's. They do accept the DDE card there, so if you have it, bring it. My dh forgot to bring the card. Ip Dip! :rotfl:

You have to have a room key to access the beach and the pool - so make sure you get something from the front desk. I plan on calling VB to confirm what they told my DVC guy before we drive there!

Oh - when we were there - there were tons of people from Michigan there.
Gosh, I'm so sorry for you. People from Michigan are well, I won't say anything bad....but they take some getting used to....:sad2:

Hey - aren't you from Michigan? They didn't bother us. I grew up going to Myrtle Beach and we had friends from Midland, Michigan who moved down for the summers.

NO MA'AM! I am from Boston, MA. DH too. Only here by a quirk of fate. And I happen to like someone from Midland also. Must be a good place! :thumbsup2
