Mei Tai Carrier too hot for September?

We are heading to Disney again this September, but this time will have our 3 month old DS with us. This is the youngest any of our children have been on a trip to Disney. We also have DD (2) and DS (3) and will have a double stroller. When going from ride to ride I would like to wear the baby instead of constantly carrying him or taking him in and out of the stroller. On our last two September trips it has been very hot - will a standard Mei Tai be too hot for the baby?

You may want to reconsider the carrying.

You have a double stroller - maybe bring that and consider renting another single at the parks? That way, if baby is sleeping, you can take turns watching him and the other goes on the ride. That is what I would do. Use the single just at the parks as a backup - or bring a double and a single.

It can be warm in September - very warm?

Have a good trip!

Our little guy, 5 months old, was carried in an Ergo all over WDW in October. We also have a solarveil ring sling that came in handy especially in the pools, super lightweight and breathable. We didn't use it more just because once he was in the Ergo he was comfy for hours. I don't think he ever rode in the stroller the entire trip. It was perfectly fine and neither of us got overheated. Good luck! I love taking them when they are babies ... so much easier than when they become mobile!

Anyway, I think an Ergo is a close enough approximation to a Mei Tai that my experience was worth reporting.

ETA: We used the Ergo a lot still this past September when he was older and bigger. Still no problems being overheated and it was brutally hot. I expect we will be using it again this September too!

Back in my babywearing days I had a Sachi Mei Tai that was made from solarveil that was very cool. You can also get them wet and they dry quickly. We used it mostly at the local sprinkler park so I could wear the baby and get wet at the same time while chasing my toddler around. But when it was hot I also used it when I took the girls to the park. I loved it.

You may be a bit hot, but i did it in August last year for short periods of time throughout the day. I had my babyhawk, my solarveil ring sling (which i highly recommend), and a solarweave Mei tei..i used all of them throughout the trip, and it really wasn't too bad. The solarveil ring sling is so nice to have for the pool as well as the parks. i would just make sure the baby is dressed in very little with a big hat and sunsceen on the legs and feet (not saying you wouldn't, but i hat to see all those sunburnt feet on babes in WDW)

I used a ring sling to carry my 9-mo-old DS around the parks in Sept of last year. I didn't find it too hot. I know it's not the same as a Mei Tei (didn't find those until he was walking and didn't want to be carried :sad1: ), but it's still wearing my baby. It was so convenient for us. We had the stroller, too, but sometimes he just didn't want to be in there, wanted to be close to mommy and/or it was just easier going from ride to ride. On several of the rides he just stayed in it as we rode.

We're going back with DS#2 this March. He'll be 5 months old and I'll have to decide which carriers to take and which work best with him. Hmmm....I don't think I'll tell DH just yet that I'm wanting to get back in the market for new carriers! ;)
