Meh

I was noticing this word on the boards. I assumed it meant "mediocre or disinterested".

I hear "buh" alot. It means "have no clue, not worried about it." Something like that. Sounds really funny.....like cave people trying to communicate.

I am so uncool. I have yet to read/hear "buh." Thanks for keeping me up to date!

Hi Paint :wave2:
I don't have really any opinions on meh. Just wanted to say hi :)

I'm so uncool. I actually use real words (sometimes phrases even) to describe things.

It's a sound you make when you shrug.

That is a perfect description... and it's why I LOVE the word. Sometimes long explanations are pointless and "meh" just works.

Exactly, if something is meh it doesn't even deserve a full sentance :) It's not a cool thing, it's generational. I would bet most people who use it probably saw the episode or are younger and just picked it up. It's pretty much a full word at this point...common use in our house is "I'm pretty meh about that". And if you think Meh is bad you should look up Leetspeak :rotfl: My favorite thing ever was during college week on Jeopardy and the guy bid 1337 and Alex had no idea what was going on and just thought it was a weird bid.

Thanks for defining. It obviously isn't spreading like wildfire in my circles. LOL Is it pronouned with the e to rhyme with the e in net? Or a long e?

I was wondering the same thing.

I have never heard anyone say it, and would think someone might sound like a bit of a dolt if they did. :confused3 Definitely wouldn't be allowed in our house. I don't allow the word "yeah" in the house either.

Hmm...so am I "too old"? Is that why I don't like it? :lmao:

Oh, and "hi" Rose!

The first i started hearing "meh" was when grey's was first getting popular. In fact, for a while, I honestly thought it was a word used to describe Meredith. So many boards would refer to her as meh, so i thought it was all about her.

Any translation for the over 40 crowd (OK, I'm not turning 40 til Friday, but I'll rush it to get the info).

My Aunt is in her 70's and has said that all my life. I thought it was a french slang.

I used an entire sentence just today. Would I be over reacting if I said I thought we were approaching Newspeak?

Wait a mniute...you mean you actually string several words together to express a thought? Where do you find the time?!?:rotfl2:

On the days I want to do it, I have to call out from work. It's worth it, though, to get all those nouns and verbs together.
