Hi,
Does anyone have any tips on how to do Magan's Bay on your own? We did the Sapphire Beach trough Disney last year and it was quite costly. We wanted to try something on our own this year.
I am trying to decide which age group to enroll my DD. She will be 5 on the 26th. Are there a lot of Character apperances in the 5-7 age group? We thought about putting her back in the 3-4.
Any info would be great!

Thanks,
Randi (RAC) :)

Grab some pool towels when you leave the ship. Then, after you come down the gangway, there will be a taxi dispatcher guiding you towards various taxis. One of the destinations they'll be happy to take you to is Magen's Bay. They'll quote you a fare (typically $6/pp each way). There is an admission fee to the park at Magen's Bay (perhaps $3/pp for adults, kids free). You can buy food/drink at the park. When you're ready to return, taxis will be available to take you back. No problem, mon!

Are there chair/umbrella/float/snorkeling equipment available for rent at Maegans Bay?

Hi! They have Beach chair rentals im totally sure. i dont now about umbreallas and snorkeling stuff!

The only difference I noticed between the two groups was in, maybe, two character activities - my daughter who had just turned 5 (so I kept her with her age group) got Goofy at the PJ party and Capt Hook (I think... it has been almost 3 months... the mind fades fast!)... and I know she would have rather have done the story time with Belle... but my daughter is very into being a "big" girl... and doesn't like to hang around with "babies"... so she was fine with it. Granted, she didn't spend all that much time in the club

we just ret'd from the magic. other than the day for CC, no pool towels when you disembark the ship! had to go to deck 9 to get them first!!!

Magen's bay is easy, just take a taxi. friends were to meet us and when they got off the ship, the taxi drivers told them Magen's was closed, too rought, etc and was directing everyone to go somewhere else. They insisted, (we had their son!) and finally got someone to take them. Magen's was no closed, wasn't that rough, not sure what was going on!

Beautiful! We took an open air taxi (just tell the main taxi dispatcher if you want open air, or closed van, they will point you to the next one). We were one of the first one's to Magen's Bay ($6 adult, something like .25 for kids). I know they had chairs, umbrellas, and floats for rent. We brought our own snork. equip, but didn't see much. Leaving, there were plenty of taxis lined up.. of course the first taxi was a beat up old thing held together with duck tape... and the woman taxi driver wasn't happy when we declined her car for the opened air one behind her (kids!)... she tried to tell us that we would be waiting for 30 minutes to fill his taxi, but really we were filled and out of there in 10.:smooth:

No umbrellas for rent, but the beach area is lined with big tall cocoanut palms - lots of shade. Just remember the showers are salt water. Great for rinsing sand off, but that's it. Even with this inconvenience, it was so beautiful....can't wait to go again. We have decided to pass on western cruise just to get back to Magen's bay.
