Has anyone used this service??? MEGABUS just arrived in Atlanta last month and I just found out about it this morning. They offer trips from free to a few dollars one way till 11/16 and I just plugged in a NYE trip which will cost me $12 to Orlando and $8 back!! :cool1: If I wanted to go during a less popular time and date it like for instance 11/29 coming back 12/1, it would be $8 RT!!

I understand they've been around for awhile, has anyone ever used them? Free Wi Fi and no driving? I'll take it!:woohoo:

I used it once from Pittsburgh to Columbus, OH. I paid $2.50 total for a round trip ($1 each way and $0.50 fee).

Definitely worth the money. Don't count on the wifi though. It conked out on me about 1.5 hours into the trip. I hear it's notoriously unreliable. Other than that, the bus was clean and comfortable (for a bus) and left on schedule and arrived on schedule.

Yes, I did hear about the spotty wifi but HEY, for the price who's complaining???? I've had spotty wifi on a overpriced trip, too!

My sister just booked a rt to Chattanooga to visit family for $8. :yay:

You should be able to get lots of reviews on google.

I'm afraid of the super cheap bus fares b/c of the stories my son and his gf have about their cheapo trip from Charlotte to NYC's Chinatown and back last Christmas. It was NOT Mega Bus, though, and I suspect the investigation after Mega Bus's accident last year and shut down of Sky Express after the big wreck in Virginia has made all these companies safer. My son and his gf were thankful to get home safely.

I could give you some nightmare stories about Greyhound, too, and they were NOT cheap. It's an option, cheaper than flying or driving and either way stuff can happen.

I don't believe stuff like what my son and his gf experienced happens on Greyhound. At least it didn't when I was a child and my mom and I rode it to see my grandparents. We did get a driver who was a jerk once, but we didn't feel unsafe.

They left NY several hours late. They stopped at a gas station where the driver told everyone to get off. The station attendant came out and yelled at the driver who got in a car and left. Then a new driver came and asked everyone for their tickets. The first driver had the tickets. After a while, they all got back on and headed South. DS, his GF and a couple of friends they met on the bus all vowed not to go to sleep (it was a midnight-8 a.m. trip) b/c they were afraid they were being kidnapped. There were lots of random stops, then speeding to make up the time. Since they were stopping so much, DS asked the driver if they could stop at our exit. Turns out that was possible for $20.

Fortunately, things like this were the "stuff" that happened on their trip. Some of the people on the company's wreck in Virginia a couple months later were not so lucky.
