Mega Points Discussion

We have 700 points and use them to take 3 trips a year to Disney, at Easter, summer, and Christmas. Normally, I try to rent out at least some of my points so that I can pay cash at one of the other Disney hotels, but this year I am trying to see if I can do it all on the points I have with no cash options. If I can't, then obviously I need to buy more points;) When I retire I will be spending January and February in Florida with Nick and his family:eek: I really hope I have enough points (and money) for that when I retire. It's a dream of mine--um, to retire there, NOT to move in with Nick's family!!

Nick, with your 600 points, my 700 points, we could have a really GOOD time. If Gracey and a couple of others kicked in their points, all of us would never have to go home!!!:teeth:

We only have 500 points. We have a June trip planned and a January 04 trip planned for the marathon. That was supposed to be a shorter Thanksgiving trip, but we started running and got signed up for the 1/2 marathon and 5K. So we had to add more nights than that Nov trip. I don't think we have any points left for a summer trip in 04. They're all used. And we don't get points until Sept and Dec.

you must be Spoiled kids... hehe. we ONLY have 230 .. well thats ok..by the way . go ahead and be spoiled ...dave

Maistre Gracey,

The Safari to Tanzania is beyond words. The landscape, the people, and the wildlife all have a spirt that is captivating. So much so we will return in 2005, hoping we can still exchange our points. Thomson Safaris is a wonderful travel company and worthy of their association with DVC.

We have 615, which we feel is not enough. We are looking into BCV or VB. Currently, we have most in OKW and about 150 points in BWV, all the same use year.

See my signature, we love the DCL and can't wait for another itinerary to go on another cruise. We've been to VB and stayed at the Conciege's Keystone Resort in Kestone, CO this past February. It was 100 yards from the gondola! It was terrific.

This year will be the first year, we've been caught up since '00. We stay in Cat. 5 on DCL and like 10 day vacations, so with that combination, it takes alot of points. We are only planning on a quite 10 day trip this fall to WDW.
:)

The co. Disney uses is called Oars and they are amazing. I dont remember how many points as it was almost 3 years ago.
I wrote a trip report, so it might still be in my computer.

We initally bought 400 at HH last February directly from DVC. Then added 150 at VWL in the fall through The Timeshare Store.

We use ours to cruise because that's what we love to do - maybe when we retire and have time, we will take in some of the other wonderful DVC places.

Til then I am always looking for more points at a good deal!!!!

I don't have mega-points, but I came here to live vicariously through you all.

However, I do spend the last two weeks of January in a studio, so when Nick retires I'll be down there for some of the time he and Cindy are. I'll be sure to request a studio on the top floor at OKW with a view right into their room!

With our recent add-on at HH (155), we have 535. We have the most at VWL and a nice chunk at BCV. I don't see us getting anymore....No...really....I'm not kidding....I'm not gonna do it.....enough is enough....ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!

Can't wait for June!!!

Each time I buy points (I now have 500) I rationalize the purchase. Prices are going up. The Grandkids are getting old enough. We need an even number of points. I was smart to buy back when I did. I NEED a cruise, etc. etc. Face it. You are hooked, newarknut!

We bought in a little over a year ago with a 150 point VWL contract. We have since done three add-ons for a total of 700 points. We have rationalized each purchase - we are taking an Alaska cruise this July and instead of paying $3000 for the cruise, we used it as the downpayment on the points to cruise, we started taking family but didn't want to cut the number of trips, and so on.

Because we have a large number of points, when the two of us go to WDW we will get a two bedroom. We also will stay for 12 days. Our daughters may decide to fly down, or we may have Florida friends over to visit. If we don't have company we still enjoy having two bathrooms.

We do not have a winter home, so this is it. If we did have a winter home, you can be sure it would have two bathrooms and a guest room.

We currently have 700 points, 400 at OKW and 300 at HH. We are currently in the process of purchasing through resale for 270 points at VB and 300 points at BWV, and 300 points at BCV through DVC. Our goal is to have points at all the resorts so we can use the 11 month window at anytime and any resort we like. We are looking into WLV for another 300 points sometime next year. So in total, we plan to have 1870 points or more depending on SSR.

We really enjoy the flexibility and the idea that our whole family can enjoy whatever and whenever they like to visit Disney. We have also used points for a cruise, which we really enjoyed. That is another reason why we keep so many points available. We try to make sure we take at least 3 weeks of family vacation together. Just our family can use 900 to 1500 points per year. Whatever is left, we have let our extended family use it or rent the points out.

In the long run, we may use the points as our winter home when we get older and the kids are out of the house. We still have about 20 years before we really consider retirement. Maybe then, our children will have kids and they can also use the points.

We have 510 points and are currently adding on another 200. We love to crisue followed by a week at Vero then a week at BWV.

I'd love to goto Hawaii.

We have only done WDW resorts so far. I like/need the accessibility I know I'll have there. We are currently on a two trip a year cycle. We bring our kids and grandkids every other T'giving. That has grown to 15 of us and is still growing, a just the two of us trip every year and an extended family trip on the off year. We brought my DH's brother and has family of 6 kids last January. We've added on several times. right now have 985 OKW and 450 BWV. Plan to join that exclusive "Snowbird" retirement club at OKW in a few years.
