I have 500 points. To some of you that seems like a lot. To others. is is not nearly enough!

Lets discuss what it is we mega point people do with all of our wonderful points.

I never have enough and have stayed at the Royal Garden in London and a whole bunch of wonderful, overpriced places. One of my favorites was the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island in Michigan.:D

How many points do you have and what things have you done with them?

The best use of a bunch of points we ever used was for the Tanzania Wildlife Safari.

I would love to hear more about the African Safari. It sounds wonderful!

We have 600 pts split evenly between OKW and VB(same use yr) and we haven't ventured out of the DVC resorts yet.......but I am sure we will sometime during the next 39 years ;)

For now we plan on getting a Beach Cottage at VB

every year, to bring family down, starting in 2004.We usually get a 2BR at OKW during Presidents week every year also.We also plan on going cruising

If I can stop borrowing all my points, I hope to , someday, also rent that VB cottage. In January I am spending ten days down at OKW in what I hope is the beginning of my snowbirding at OKW in years to come.

We have 900 BCV points. For the immediate future (next 5 years or so), we plan on using these points all at Disney World.

404 points for a 9 night stay (Friday - Sunday) in a 2 bedroom every October and

492 points for a 10 nights stay (Friday - Monday) in a 2 bedroom every May.

Once the kids get a little older we plan on going to Hawaii and Disneyland and since we live in Michigan I would love to try the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island

We were never treated as special because we were DVC members as we were at the Grand Hotel. We were given a wonderful room overlooking the water, right above the flags over the entrance. Our room was next to the Place in Time room. (Remember Christopher Reeves?) Don't miss the Grand Hotel. DVC saved us about $1900 in room charges.

P.S. My wife grew up in Redford Township near Livonia. Small world.

tvwalsh.... That sounds wonderful, you make me want to do that this summer! Beleive it or not, I have lived in Michigan my whole life and I have never been there! I wonder if you just got lucky or if they treat all DVC members that way?

We have 610 points and have used them at all DVC resorts except the VWL. We have also used them for a 7 day Disney Cruise and at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC. Beautiful accomodations.

RE Safari:

I jus tried to do a search to locate a trip report I did the in February. Search function was shut down. Might try just looking around mid Feb for a safari related topic. Sorry I could not find the thread.

Thanks for the effort but keep trying to find your report. I'm sure I would not be the only one interested.

We have 770 points.
The best use of our points was a white water rafting trip through Idaho. It was amazing.

I'll have to try the Grove Park Inn. I have often thought N>C> would be a great state for my retirement!

I thought all the white water was in the Colorado! Tell us more. What river? How many points? What did they give you?:

Ooops! I meant to bump the safari trip report as I don't know how to do a link to it. I have now bumped that too for anyone who missed it. Must learn how to do these technical thiings one day!

I have "only" 450 points. Have taken several grown-up long weekends and a week at WLV last year. Headed for 2 weeks at Kapalua Bay in Maui in early June, and just exchanged for a week in Aruba next December. This month, my 11 month window opens for 9 nights next March spring break at WLV. So far, I sure am getting my money's worth.

You are really doing a good job. Have you borrowed most of next year? (Like I have.):(

We have 500 points and are taking 11 members of my family for a week in January. Two 2bdrs and a studio at the BWV. We also have a trip next month for 10 days and another 9 day trip to VB and BWV in October. The only place we ever used points outside of WDW is the Grand Californian at DL. We have actually returned on 3 occasions to the GC but only used points the one time. The points needed seem high to us so we have opted to pay cash for the other stays. We have discussed the cruise, but will probably pay cash also as we have never yet tired of our WDW vacations. I never in my wildest dreams ever envisioned having that many points or ever needing that many points. It's so addictive, now I just want more.

My daughter who lives on the left coast, used our points to go to The Grand Californian. It was wonderful and she and her husband loved it. You are right however, it cost a lot of points. Anything I want to do costs lots of points. To paraphrase Madonna, "Points can't take me everywhere but where they can't take me I don't want to go!"
