Anyone here ever use meetup.com?
I joined it last week and the other day went to my first meetup. If you're not familiar with it, it's a website that has "groups" on it based on different topics (book clubs, knitting groups, cooking clubs, etc) and it helps you meet people who share a hobby or interest. Most meetups are in public places (restaurants, bowling alleys, parks, etc). I live in an area that I am "new" to, and I work from home, so I thought it would be a great way to meet some people.
What I was looking for actually, was a Disney group, but there isn't one for my area (Northern Virginia/MD/DC/maybe eastern WV). I thought it would be fun to meet up with local Disney fans to hang out and talk about Disney (since at least for me, most of my friends couldn't care less about it, haha).
I don't know of there's a way that we could make a Dis Meetup.com group, and people could post local meetups on the page and see of other locals would want to meet up with them? Just a thought, and I figured it might be fun. Thoughts?
